Hotpoint Reversomatic Dryer Plus 9324 - not heating up

I can't see the stat at the back (have taken a few more photos to make sure I am not missing anything obvious - this time the top of the photo is the back of the machine). Firstly, am I missing the wood for the trees here guys (ie can you see the stat) ? Secondly, assuming that it isn't the...

Hotpoint Reversomatic Dryer Plus 9324 - not heating up

What is a resistance tester (is that the same as a multimeter) ? Are they expensive and where would I get one ? Assuming I did get one how would I go about testing this appliance to assess whether it is another stat blown or whether it is the heating elemnt that's gone ? Cheers, Andy_P.

Hotpoint Reversomatic Dryer Plus 9324 - not heating up

Thanks jj. You were right, that was the stat. Had it off and it looks OK. As I don't have a multimeter I did the naughty thing of disconnecting the wires from the stat and connecting them together (temporarily, have now put back as was) to see if the heating element would heat. As it didn't I...

Hotpoint Reversomatic Dryer Plus 9324 - not heating up

We have the above (ie Hotpoint 9324) tumble dryer. It has stopped heating (the drum still spins and everything else looks fine - just no heat). It is an old machine but I am loathe to go out and buy a new one if it is a simple repair. From what I can work out (from having looked around the...

Tape to prevent leak at metal joints

My bath waste pipe meets my bathroom sink wastepipe and then in turn are fed in to my soil pipe (all on the outside of the house). The bath waste and sink waste pipes are old (probably original house pipes - 1965) and are as such metal pipes. Recently had to call in a plumber as my bath and...

Tape to prevent leak at metal joints

Can anyone please tell me the name of the 'material' that you get on a tape type roll that is soft and pliable and you would use it to wrap round the thread of an old metal joint before screwing the nut back in place to give a good water tight fit ???? Also could you advise me where I can get...

    removing paint from plaster

Thanks confident - am preparing to line walls with lining paper (can't say that I am looking forward to it as never done before). Have put sander away (read an article at defra re lead based paint removal that has scared the life out of me) !!!! That said I do need to lightly sand in small...

    removing paint from plaster

I have a similar scenario so thought I would tag it on to this post rather than start a new thread (hope that's OK). I have completely stripped a room to decorate and as the plaster is in pretty good nick was intending to sand it down to remove paint, dried glue and any excess filler. I...
