    Replacing a curtain pole

Thanks for the replies so far. Sorry, I probably didn't make it clear, the hole left by the rawlplug is a little wider than the rawlplug was as it has broken some of the edges away, so I can't re-use the hole without filling it first. Thanks Chris.

    Replacing a curtain pole

Hi, I fitted a curtain pole some months back and it's just decided to fall down! The curtains are very heavy, and when I was drilling the wall (it's a 1930s house, so solid brick, I believe) I could not get far enough in each time to use the correct screw, so cheated and used a smaller one at...

    'sticky' tap

Hi, I have a kitchen tap with a lever similar to the picture here: The problem is, when you turn it on, rather than smoothly moving from a trickle to full power, it goes up in jerky movements, so it's easy to soak yourself. Is this likely to be something which can be easily resolved...

    Zanussi washing machine not working

Yep! I checked that twice, even after I had opened them. There is definitely water coming from both, but I think I'll double check the hot to see if there is a valve restricting the flow at all.

Hi, I have a Zanussi washing machine - an old one, which has just been plumbed in. When I try and run a wash the only one which seems to actually release any water to fill the machine is the pre-wash setting. All the others just sit there with the light on indicating that it's on, but they...

Can't get hot water at a decent pressure

It's either an A23 or A27, I'm not sure how to tell. So if I run the tap at showering temp and I can fill up an 8 litre bucket in a minute then there's nothing wrong with it? As for sludge / scale in the boiler, would this have been remedied when the system was powerflushed? Thanks

Can't get hot water at a decent pressure

Hi, I have an Ariston combi boiler. It's apparently about 5/6 years old, but we've just bought the house so I'm not certain. The central heating is fine, and the water comes out nice and hot, except that I had to turn the pressure down on the inlet to the boiler to ensure that it is...
