Probably a stupid question but how do I check the starter

My neon kitchen strip light has two tubes. One tube kept flickering on and off, so I changed it for a new one. But the problem still exists. The other tube is not a problem and is perfectly alright. Would appreciate some help. Many thanks in advance :cry:

Thanks for feed back - we cleaned the carpet thorughly and the smell was still unbearable. So I have cut that piece of the (new) carpet out and will replace. :cry:

Thank eggplant for your response. How do I identify and then delete these temp files. When I look at the folder it shows a 28Gb size, but identifies only 11Gb. Somewhere in there is a 17Gb file which I need to delete before I attempt another video upload. :)

The cable is some 15 metres long from the consumer unit. The wire itself is awkward to get to as its above the cooker hood. Just compared it with 6mm cable from the local B&Q. Its looks about the same size - not a good measure I know. Can't see any markings on cable. The cooker hasn't been...
