Overriding Smeg DI6012 Dishwasher anti-flood system

My Smeg DI6012 dishwasher is driving me mad with error E1; it takes upwards of 30 attempts to get it to complete a cycle without this error being given - yet the drip tray and float are bone dry. If I depress the float under very (very) light pressure there is an audible "click" and the same...

How to remove bath pop-up waste knurled knob?

Tapped with moderate force working on the side of the knob using a 12"x2"x3" offcut of softwood timber. Repeated tapping on the diagonally opposite side, then through 90 degrees, and then opposite that. Imagine torquing up four car wheel nuts 1-3-2-4 to get the idea. After doing this a dozen...

How to remove bath pop-up waste knurled knob?

Thank you, Bahco and swidders. I feared that corrosion might be the cause, though hoped it would be something else such as the threaded assembly I mentioned. I'll try the WD40 route, and if necessary, some sharp shocks from a carefully used club hammer with the overflow assembly braced...

Many thanks for all the comments; with job now done, here's the result as a courtesy and to help others with the same or similar problem. I came across some long, thin, Rawlplug "Hammer in" block fixings that looked like they'd work. Never seen before by me, I purchased a packet. Being much...

Preparing stud wall holes for redrilling

Thanks for the comments. Air gap is a good 3/4" so I'd rather not use a longer screw that can reach a plug pushed in to the Thermalite (thank you) blocks. I don't have any car body filler but today found an unopened can of the expansion filler I first mentioned. Any comment on the...

Preparing stud wall holes for redrilling

Yes; I don't know the correct term or product name to use, but a type of grey breeze block that drills beautifully easily compared to traditional coarse breeze blocks that cause the drill to jump and scatter until the bore proper has started to cut.

Preparing stud wall holes for redrilling

First post; Building or General forum? I've decided the former, but please be gentle if wrong; I did think before I posted. I have just moved in to a conventionally built modern house with stud walls. One of the fitted shelves is tearing the "heavy duty" plasterboard type Rawlplugs(tm) out...
