    Boiler Suitable?

in addition to an un-vented storage tank to supply your hot water, you may want to split your heating in to two or even three separate zones, a day zone for the living areas, a night zone for the bedrooms, and a zone for the spare guest room. This allows you to install separate...

    Electra AWM 800

Found a reclaimed drum from a local repair shop. The drum was out of an Electra AWM 1000, but is essentially same as the AWM 800 except that I had to swap over all the sensors etc. Machine up and running now, but still checking for any leaks. Very many thanks to Fido and the forum for...

    Electra AWM 800

Found an article of clothing stuck inside the washing machine. On inspection found a dented and cracked inner drum where the cloth was stuck. INterference with cables?

You will need to run cat 5 separately. Normal cat 5 cable has to be run seperately from all other services otherwise the transmission rate becomes degraded. You can get double shielded cat 5 cable on which you can Earth the outer shield, for noisy enviroments.

    New Oven & Hob wiring

A breaker for a circuit is rated for the design current that the Load will draw. The cable is then chosen that would safely deliver the current which will trip the breaker. So if the Oven draws a maximum of 19A then the breaker at the CU supplying the Oven must not be 32A but a 20A breaker...

    Just a Theory !!!

You need an earth rod and the CPC so that if an appliance develops a fault and the chassis of the appliance will becomes live, the CPC carries the fault current to earth via the rod and hence trips the RCD. If you had no rod, then no earth path and the RCD would only trip when someone touched...

    Spooky PIR!

I thought it was understood that it means a working voltage of 250V AC, its not a DC working voltage of 400V. It has to be non-polarised capacitor for working at the mains voltage.

    Spooky PIR!

    Connect a 1.0 Microfarad 250V AC Capacitor across the L & N at the 2D terminals.

    New Oven & Hob wiring

There are two reasons for connecting the two appliances seperatly:- 1. Isolation of each seperatly 2. The Flex for any appliance is only rated for the load of that appliance so for the double oven the flex is only rated at 19A. You can not connect this cable to a circuit which...

    New Oven & Hob wiring

The Hob load Before diversity is :- 6600/230=28.7A After Diversity:- 10+1/3*18.7=16.3A The double oven load before diversity is:- 4400/230=19.1A After diversity:- 10+1/3*9.1=13.0A Total load is 16.3+13.0=29.3A So your breaker is rated correctly at 32A. Idealy you require two...
