Thanks Oilman, have manged to take it to bits and the motor is stone cold so have ordered a new one and am awaiting it's delivery. Fingers crossed for a heated New Year :lol:

Spoke to Worcester and they say it won't do any harm is a temporary fix that will affect the efficiency only as some of the hot water is directed to the hot water tank as well as the heating so will just take slightly longer to heat up. Thanks anyway.
