Replacement LED Driver for LAP Batten

Just thought I'd post back with an update. Found a guy on eBay selling some 2nd hand Helvar LL1x70-E-CC Adjustable Constant Current Drivers, four of them for £15 so I thought I'd take a punt. The result is I now have a working LED Batten again & 3 spare working drivers if I ever need 'em for...

Replacement LED Driver for LAP Batten

To be fair, I bought 4 units in 2018 and this is the only one that's played-up but I do know where you're coming from, buy cheap, buy twice . The thing is, I didn't consider nearly £40 each when I got them particularly cheap .

Replacement LED Driver for LAP Batten

Do I take it from the lack of any reply but over 70 views that the best option here is to buy another batten unit ? Ah well :(. Worth a try.

Replacement LED Driver for LAP Batten

Hi all. One of my Sc***fix 5ft LAP Batten's has given up the ghost so I decided I had nowt to lose and took the end-caps off to see if I could sort it without having to resort to forking out another £40 forra new one. The layout is 2 x semi-rigid strips, (160 each) connected in 8 parallel groups...

Trouble with balancing after following how-to.

Yeah, I know where you're coming from buddy and with hindsight (what a wonderful word - lol) I should've done a bit more research before buying them all. Being a DIY'er, I thought I was being fairly clever, making sure I got the correct size rad that will give the correct output for the room...

Trouble with balancing after following how-to.

Thanks again for the reply @Madrab . The pump is on it's slowest speed (adjusted on the boiler panel) so there's no "give" there I'm afraid. The annoying thing about this is that I would normally ask loads of questions first to people "in the know"about stuff I'm considering purchasing but this...

Trouble with balancing after following how-to.

Well, I've spent since 7am this morning trying to do this and all I can seem to achieve is getting a 6°C drop (or thereabouts) across the radiators, apart from the S/Steel one in the bathroom that seems to want to stay at about 2.5°C unless I completely close the lockshield . All the...

Trouble with balancing after following how-to.

Thanks for replying @Madrab as you've prolly guessed, I'm doing this DIY so I appreciate any help (y) To try and answer your questions. I've set the boiler flow temp at 70°C (it actually measures 63.9° with my differential meter) in an attempt to get the return to about 50°C or so to get the...

Trouble with balancing after following how-to.

Hi All. Decided to attempt to balance my system, (as it's never been done) following the nice guide on here posted a while ago by D Hailsham. However I've got stuck at the first hurdle (check boiler temp differential according to the guide) as even with my boiler (Worcester Greenstar 9i) on the...

Am I doing something wrong or is my system goosed ?

I've been pinning the valves open before I attempt to bleed the system.

    Bathroom Fan Ductwork Noise

The ductwork is already well insulated with a rockwool and silver bubble-wrap coating. In the loft, where the fan and ductwork are, you can hardly hear it running. I'm guessing the majority of the noise is from the airflow hence the reason I was wondering if the silencer I linked to would...

Am I doing something wrong or is my system goosed ?

The room stats don't send the call for heat to the boiler, they operate the motor on the valve unit. When it fully opens, contacts in there send the call for heat to the boiler and turn it on. Sorry fixitflav, didn't realise you were just a diy'er like me. Yeah, hopefully some of the pro's will...

    Bathroom Fan Ductwork Noise

Hi all. Rather then resurrect a 2yr old thread I created, I thought it better to ask another question re: ductwork noise. My bathroom ventilation consists of two separate inlets (one above shower, one above bath) connected via a swept "T", all in 125mm Rigid Ductwork and powered by a Manrose...

Am I doing something wrong or is my system goosed ?

Hi fixitflav. Again, sorry for the late reply but it seems the powers that be may have sorted the forum access problem as I got on this time without all the "jumping through hoops" I've had to do of late so thanks to the administrators for that. (y) So, to the task in hand. :) In answer to...

Am I doing something wrong or is my system goosed ?

I don't have any TRV's fitted as I have a thermostat in each room. I thought the idea of zone valves was to avoid the need for TRV's. Should I have fitted them also ? I know I'm not a pro but that seems to be a bit counter-intuitive to me, but then again I'm just a DIY'er . Sorry for...

Am I doing something wrong or is my system goosed ?

Hi all, sorry for the delay in replying but I've been job searching ! No joy as of yet but hopefully some better news around the corner so to speak(y) Anyway, I looked through the boiler manual and found that the boiler had been set to constant maximum speed so I've adjusted it to variable and...

Am I doing something wrong or is my system goosed ?

Just had a look at the Boiler instructions to see if it is something I'm allowed to alter and there are settings that I can change according to the booklet. I'll have a go at them and see if it makes any difference. Could this also help with the gurgling ?

Am I doing something wrong or is my system goosed ?

No, as there was hardly any discernible pressure loss on the boiler gauge after checking the rads. It is working as it raises and lowers as the boiler heats and cools. Just a jet of water came out of the bleed valves instantly so they were only open for a second or so. I did turn the loop on...

Am I doing something wrong or is my system goosed ?

The rads & altered pipework are only 3 years or so old and there are absolutely no leaks whatsoever anywhere so surely it's not going to be anything like that ? I knew I'd forget to give some details ! When I first changed the pipework and radiators from under the floor to the loft, I...

Am I doing something wrong or is my system goosed ?

I have been having a right mare of a time trying to get rid of what I’m guessing is excess air in my CH system. I was hoping that it might miraculously clear itself after fitting a new radiator in my bathroom but I’ve had no luck with that. I can only presume that I must be doing summat wrong so...
