    Quick cover for a fence

Thanks for that, stupid question but would a fast growing ivy stifle the trees ? Matty, I exagerated a tad, looking at it again it is about 7 to 71/2 foot on my side. What they've done is lay decking and then met posted on it and put the panels on so on their side it is about 6 1/2 foot and 7...

    Quick cover for a fence

I've got a conifer hedge which was around 8 ft tall until a couple of years ago. I lopped a couple of foot off the top to make trimming easier and also to give my neighbour some more light. 2 years later and what does the neighbour do ? Build an 8 foot panelled fence on their side so it...

    Poor water pressure

I live in an area which doesn't have the best water pressure. I have a pressure washer for cleaning patio etc but does anyone know if you can get a device that fits to an outside tap which a general hosepipe can attach to that will increase pressure when watering the garden ? Was thinking...

    Holding a slate in place

First of all sorry for the ignorance here but I'm no roofer !! We've got a damp patch with all the rain just above our bedroom window and at first I though the cavity wall guys had forgot to fill in one of their bore holes. When I've got up the ladders I've noticed one of the first slates...

    Potatoes

Thanks everyone. It's the first time I have grown them and they amaze me how fast they have grown. Tried Courgettes and Aubergines this year from seed but they have died on me. I know aubergenes like humid weather and so trying to grow them in the highest village in England is probably a...

    Potatoes

Hi, May sound a stupid question but what do you do with the compost in a container after you have harvested the tatties ? Reason I ask is you're not supposed to plant the potatoes year after year in the same earth so does that mean I could contaminate my flower beds if I add the compost to...

    Flys

You need to find out what she is putting in it because normally the only fly you would get are fruit flys which would not be a problem as they would be contained within the bin. If the flies are blue bottles then you seriously want to be asking questions of what they are putting in it !!

    Pressure washer problem

How do you get the outer casing off ? The Karcher seems to have an allen type screw with a head I've never seen before, like a star shape. I was planning on taking it off and finding the leak myself, like someone said earlier I reckon the frost got it and it is a simple repair. I spoke to...

    Pressure washer problem

Hi, Just got the Karcher out of the shed for the yearly patio clean and noticed that when the hose is connected there is water gushing out of the front grilles. I am assuming there is either a leak in the internal hose or a valve problem. When I pull the trigger it still works but I'd rather...

    Top Dressing A Lawn

Cheers for that. Definetely some dandelions and some others I'm not sure what they are called. I assume if I were to spot treat then I'd still have to dig out the dead weed ? I must have dug out about 30 last week so was rather hoping a weed and feed in April would slow them down before...

    Top Dressing A Lawn

Thanks for that. I don't know why but my front lawn was full of weeds until I dug them out whilst the back one is lush, maybe the front is more exposed to seeds flying about in the wind ? Yes I scorched the lawn once and ended up having to cut out the affected parts and re lay new turf. I...
