I get this a lot, I give it a coat of carlite bonding it fills the deep parts and can go on thin to smooth up the shallower parts get it fairly flat when its setting and bobs your uncle :)

It sounds like the wall is dry lined which means the boards are stuck to the wall with adhesive. If you tap all over the wall you will hear non hollow parts thats where the blobs of adhesive are, if you get your screws into these you will have no problem its really tough stuff, you need a hand...
You need the exact same stones which is unlikely.
Pebbledashing is really easy actually you just bang the render on get it reasonably flat then litterally throw the stones at it. More fall on the floor than stick to the wall I hold a paint tray under to catch as many as I can.
You CAN NOT 100% guarantee the cracks wont come back.
Its unlikely but unless the reason for their apearance in the first place has been addressed then it can still hapen again.
Generally hairline cracks are due to age and shouldnt be a problem.

It actually depends on how they were stored.
Use-by dates are allways well within the limits of the true use-by date.
Although at the price its miles less risk to buy new gear.

Building regulations are iregular from council to council.
If you use fireline on the steel and use the rest up on a ceiling then use normal 12 mill for the rest no one can complian really.

Hard to tell exactly your problem but it sounds like - if you fill the gaps with expanding foam first, let it set trim it down with a knife then skim over it.
