I checked it by peering down the flue to start with, and then carefully dismantled it. There was nothing wrong with any of the flue. I always assemble with silicone grease to help the seals slide easily. Very satisfying.

Such a piece of cake to take apart - did that and checked it - perfect. Matey popped back and re-did the FG analysis with new probe and re-cal - 8.8% at low end, 9.2% at high end. Inlet pressure 20.5 at low end, 19.5 at full pelt. Checked it all twice, half hour apart. There is a 1mB drop...

I can see the seal is fine when the inner casing is removed. The boiler runs slightly leaner as the power increases. It seems. We increased the CO2 at the bottom end and it increased by a similar margin at the top end. And then set it back. Sometimes the high power setting went up to 9.3% - I...

Ah yes, the low end was 9.1, the high end 8.9 So well inside the spec

    biasi boilers

I have had 3 Biasi boilers - and my friends and family all have the Riva HEs (110 versions), like me. Although I have had a couple of interrelated funnies (see elsewhere - was not the boiler), they have all been superb. They use standard parts and are thus not particularly different from any...

10 days on, problem seems to have gone away. I hate the fact that I don't know which thing caused it - gas governor or Protex? Irrespective of that - it is fine now. Which is a good thing. Thanks to all the kind and tenacious assistance.

Just checked the boiler inlet pressure - my mate with the WG appeared... 21mB off, 19.5mB at full power. Before it was 26mB off, 19mB at full power. And it isn't fluctuating a little like it used to, Matey described it as a "stiff" supply. There is still some sound, but not anything like...

Regulator now changed. Fitter said they do change the 3 types as they come across them, although this was due to a part failing in the south of the UK only...! Anyway, I will keep an ear open. He has managed to fit the governor and pull the supply pipe out of the wall ties.....

J88, G910 or a donkyn are these meters or governors? BTW, the inlet pressure was checked- I mentioned this earlier on

Hi Dave - I know jack about old gas meters - this one is 1993. I presume they are sized by flow? Perhaps there is a combination of tired meter/governor and fluctuations in the normal gas supply pressure? Any way I can tell if this meter is "low flow"? if that indeed exists... The supply pipe...

Backflushed via drain offs. Any recommendations for "cleaning" the H/E?

Thanks for the continued support both... The system was flushed thoroughly. Twice before the boiler was fitted and then after. The water is a always very clean, even now. It seems odd that the noise a) started 6 months after commissioning and b) coincided with fitting the 15th rad. I...

The CO2 was checked at both top and bottom power settings - they were 8.8% at the bottom end and 9% at the top end. The guy reckoned these were a bit lean, but as they were in spec, left them alone. As for the noise - it is a little hard to describe. It isn't related to the inlet air - this...

Drained, moved return pipe as suggested, refilled using Fernox F1. May be better - need to keep an ear open!

I'll give that a try - I used to have resonance problems with Vaillant 28kW combis (14 years ago - back in the days when Vaillant electroplated the internal Cu pipework) and this was always the diverter valve casting. Some were noisy, some weren't. Many were changed. All to Vaillant's cost...

The B knob or control is the left hand one on the Biasi - slightly comical that the RH one is the A control. The Protex wasn't £3 - it was sold as a bonafide inhibitor. The same stuff is sold by Screwfix now called "No Nonsense" or something similar. I used bucket loads of Protex in France...

I drained the majority of the water with Protex. I have some F1 to add, after I have run the CH a couple of times over the next couple of days. It seems to be quieter, but not silent. Still some bellowing at high power settings once the H/E is hot, though not as audible through the rad...
