Hi Have a couple of rather large and deep holes in the walls of our bedroom after new electric sockets have been put in. What can I use to fill them - they appear a bit big for Polyfilla, and I'm not sure about using that foam in a can stuff over wiring. Any suggestions gratefully received...

Its not so much a problem that I can't drill the hole, more that when I do it creates a huge hole as the wall starts crumbling. The drill has a good drill bit and definitely isnt on hammer setting. I thought I'd sorted it earlier - drilled the hole, put the wall plug in, but when we started...

Sorry - what I meant is it appears to be bricks/ blocks. When I drill I get red brick dust and it seems to be solid to the depth I am drilling. Does taht make sense?

Hi I am wondering what the best way to paint MDF is. Does it need primer/undercoat, or can I just get away with a couple of coats of paint?

Thanks for all the suggestions. We got someone back to look at things and they reckon the valve is fine and that it is the PCB control?? in the boiler (a Baxi 2) which is the problem, causing the pump to override everything else. Does that sound likely?

Our central heating won't turn off when our hot water is on. To turn off the heating we have to either turn off the hot water, or turn off the boiler completely. Any suggestions>?
