    Reverse Circulation when HW On

Enough for it to vibrate around all the upstairs rads so pretty bad. Its a fast chatter, like a buzzing sound.

    Reverse Circulation when HW On

I'll have to report back on that, its my sons house, the chatter comes and goes with different flows. Initially noticed it with all rads on when the system got hot so maybe as TRVs were shutting down.

    Reverse Circulation when HW On

Its a Reliance Valves 15mm single check valve, Toolstation code 76666 Rads have TRV4s with Drayton Autobalance valves.

    Reverse Circulation when HW On

Yes sorry meant flow. It's a Spirotrap magnetic filter. To get the downstairs return back to upstream of the cylinder so they can all be combined in the right place would mean chopping out that tee and extending the downstairs 22mm return up through the ceiling and under a bedroom floor. I...

    Reverse Circulation when HW On

With CH on and towel rail still off, the check valve in the upstairs return is still chattering at times, is that likely to stop if change the towel rail to be always on?

    Reverse Circulation when HW On

Towel rail off and all rads remain cold with HW on. Edit: But as CH kicked in, the check valve in the upstairs return started to initially chatter.

    Reverse Circulation when HW On

This is tee 3 at the top of the boiler, 22mm coming through the ceiling is the combined cylinder and upstairs return from tee 1, at this point we are about 4m downstream of the cylinder. Tee 3 centre joins this with the 22mm return from the downstairs rads and the bottom of the tee goes into...

    Reverse Circulation when HW On

Yes I can see that paths you mention, so it seems the options (other than fixing all the pipework) is turn the towel rad into an always on by connecting it to the boiler feed after the pump or fitting a check valve to prevent the reverse circulation. I will turn the towel rail off as you...

    Reverse Circulation when HW On

Ahh, ok. I know the returns should all be commoned before but that is the most difficult to acheive due to the return T on top of the boiler, it was probably wishful thinking I could leave that tee.:giggle:

    Reverse Circulation when HW On

I'm confused, you said tee 3 is ok yesterday but now saying I need to move that as well so cylinder is downstream of it? That will be much more difficult as the T is right on top of the boiler return connection.

    Reverse Circulation when HW On

I will re-pipe, can I do this by moving the upstairs return (with valve removed) to the right of tee 2 and tee the return with the towel rad, or do I need to move the cylinder return down. Does either way work?

    Reverse Circulation when HW On

The towel rad gets hot with HW on but with reverse flow, return side gets hot first. It also gets hot when CH on with correct flow, feed side hot first. This reverse flow ends up making its way to the downstairs rads eventually. The check valve is in the return from the upstairs rads (these...

    Reverse Circulation when HW On

Valve is correct way around, no detectable reverse flow through it. Towel rad works fine when CH on, feed side hot first. With HW on gets hot with reverse circulation, return hot first. Is it something to do with the towel rad loop being a very small loop with only that one rad on it?

    Reverse Circulation when HW On

Thanks, I see what you are saying. This might be a silly question but would this have the same effect; Moving the 15mm rad return from tee 1 and teeing into the 15mm return from the towel rad, ie pushing the 15mm rad return upstream instead of moving the cylinder return downstream? I was going...

    Reverse Circulation when HW On

Quick sketch, tee 1 needs re-routing, for now I have a check valve in the 15mm return. Towel rad (returns into tee 2) is still getting burning hot when HW on, reverse flowing. This reverse flow eventually starts to make its way to the downstairs rads via the flow as the reverse flow has...

    Reverse Circulation when HW On

Thanks for replying. I can re-route the upstairs rad common return and join it to the towel rad return which enters at the reducing T but the towel rad is already also suffering from reverse circulation so would that work? Also is the return tee at the boiler ok or does that need changing?

    Reverse Circulation when HW On

Trying to sort out a reverse circulation when HW on issue, three tee rule not followed in any way it seems. S plan system, valves are not letting by. Issue 1 - HW On, upstairs rads get burning out. 15mm return (presume from all upstairs rads except towel rail) is teed into the 22mm return about...

Ridiculous flaw in the Drayton Wiser system

I don't think its a great "feature" but I've had no issues, just delete the added schedule and move it onto an existing schedule. It doesn't matter you don't need to know, its like mesh wifi, you don't need to know what its connected to as long as its connected to the network. I've been...

    Wiser Smart TRV Issues

I don't see the valve not closing issue, but when I fitted my system I also replaced all the valves with Drayton auto balancing valves. If the valve is not closing then it sounds like there is not enough travel from the Wiser head to push the pin right down, I doubt this can be fixed with...
