Well JohnD, yet again you have given good advice! I really think we are going to be left with no option but to change the cu, not sure I would rely on our electrician to purchase us good quality materials though judging by the comments on the cu we have! Again thanks a lot for your help and...

It is a M2 which is the same a MK?? I did post a picture last time and if I remember you didn't recognize it, you thought it was from Japan. So what you are saying, even without anything plugged in to any sockets a leak can be detected, ie from wires in damp walls etc? Thanks

    RCD Tripping

[ My hubby took advise from another electrician today over the phone, and he did suggest checking for a fault between the neutral to earth and disconnect the neutrals and try them one at a time, but for him to be careful as they become live! However I'm not sure if he did try this as he is...

    RCD Tripping

Hi JohnD, I think you gave me lots of advice last time! When you say damp, are we talking leaking water or for example rising damp in the walls? Also is it possible for the printer to trip out our rcd with nothing else plugged in but not trip our friends? Would this not mean the printer...

We had the whole house and new extension wired so complete rewire. He got the 2.99 reading from the kitchen sockets, he used the same machine for all downstairs sockets but I only looked at it once. We have no evidence of rodents or water leaks that I know of, think we might have a wasp nest...

    Fuse Box tripping!

Hi again, I bet you think I've got an answer for everything but I have tried unplugging everything, then plugging in the washing machine and it will trip. I do understand that a selection of appliances can have a small leakage that will when all plugged in cause it to trip, but like I said it...

    Fuse Box tripping!

Hi plugwash, thanks for your comments. As this is a new installation do you think this is something my electrician should deal with? I don't want to start spending more money on it if I don't have to.
