    router jigs

I made my own jigs out 9mm mdf, that way I can use the guideboshes and cutters I already have, I even made one to mortice tubular latches and the face plates. A couple of hours with some bits of scrap saved several hours hanging doors. IMHO bought jigs can be very over priced.

Biscuit joints with a Router – how?

For long lengths it can sometimes be quicker to run a groove, and rip some 4mm ply, it’s actually very quick to put a fence on a Circ saw and cut a few strips, I keep a few long lengths cut down to hand, (very handy for making guides for large radius curves, if held between three pins!!) Also...

Biscuit joints with a Router – how?

Evo would be fine, running a slot along the ends would be to. Just remember to stop it short of the face! Personally I'd go for short slots, that way you maximise gluing surface on the join. Just mark big lines for the d'être of each biscuit to line them up, and short lines to mark the...

Biscuit joints with a Router – how?

Cut the two pieces of the shelves to size. Then dry clamp, or hold them together the way they'll be jointed. Once together mark a pencil line acrocc BOTH pieces, where you want the biscuits to be. Set a bearing guided biscuit bit in the router to the depth so that it's roughly in the middle...

Router Table Recommendations please - Charnwood W015?

Have a look at Wealden tools website, in the tips section ron fox goes about building one. I bought a router table a few years back, and it was ok, but certainly nothing specital, and the fence was inacurate, i ended up canibalising the vaious fixings, and making one from scratch - that way...

    Flour/garnet/cabinet paper supplier

Does anyone know of a reputable UK Suplier ofgarnet, or flour paper? I've searched the net, but can't seem to find anything softer than 240 grit. Any ideas, i've tried using normal wet and dry, but it keeps leaving a grey discolouration to the resin surface i'm trying to work on.

Evolution Rage 3 Mitre Saw Innacurate!

I've got one of these, which is ~3 years old now, i have the same problem... I store it on a shelf set to 45 degrees, so it doe's take up so much space..... each time i use it i spend 5minutes checking that it's square, with a suare..... Annoying, but worth the effort to make sure it's accurate...

Alternative to Trend pocket hole screws...

I recently got the pocket hole jig from trend, which i have to say is great. Neat, quick, strong etc etc... I was wondering if anyone out there uses it as well, and if they've found anywhere to get screws from. Surely someone out there sells the same size screws, without the trend price tag...

    plaster and lath ceiling

I would agree with previous posts, if it's not gone any where up till now - leave it! If small areas of the ceilings do move when you push up on it, there are a couple of things you can do before changing the whole lot: 1. for smal areas you can drill counterbored holes into the plaster...

    plastering lath

Laths are all expensive, Particularly Riven laths. The SPAB website used to have links to a lot of specialist suppliers of lime plastering materials, so you might be able to find a slightly cheaper source. You could also use NHL rather than lime putty in your scratch coat and float. Then once...

    Sleeper Wall and Timberlok Screws

Personally, i'd go for the shorter ones, but then again i tend to bury the heads right in.

    Sleeper Wall and Timberlok Screws

Screwfix do these: http://www.screwfix.com/cats/A331526/Screws/Exterior-Wood-Screws/Exterior-Timber-Screws There basically the same, and a little cheaper....have used these before as an alternative to timberloks, and they were fine.

    Senco Duraspin 275AC

Does anyone have a DS275AC, and know if it'll take the 160mm bits? I got one from screwfix the other day and the bits are 155mm, as are the spare ones, the DS200 takes these as well, but the 18v version takes the longer 160mm bits. I want to get the senco bit holder which will take the 25mm...

how many bags do i need....?

It's more about the final consistancy, usually about the same as double cream.... Or once you bring the paddle out about an inch depression where it was, if that makes sence, you might like to work with it stiffer, or runnier - as yo prefer.

how many bags do i need....?

THe product data sheet for multi finish: http://www.british-gypsum.com/pdf/DS-110-01%20Thistle%20MultiFinish.pdf states 10m2 per 25kg bag, so 4, but i'd be inclined to get 5 to cover any wastage etc.

    Lime instead of cement

Hi Trowel Monkey, I've done a few projects with lime since, A family member needed quite a lot of work done in their victorian terrace, we took all the bad plaster back to brick and used NHL and sand to float all the new areas, then skimmed the whole room (less the ceiling) with putty and play...

    Lime instead of cement

I went on a "lime plaster for plasterers" course at cressing temple last year. it was done through the local county council, the guy running it was a mine of information, tips, Demos, examples etc - worth ten times what it cost! I'm was expecting everyone else there to know a lot, but in fact...

Black Jappanned wood screws - countersunk head

Does anyone know of a supplier of wood screws with either a countersunk, or raised countersunk head? I'm after 10X1 1/4 if possible. I've looked everywhere i can think of but everyone tells me about the huge selection of round heads only!

HELP!! - LATH AND PLASTER WALL - to repair.

If the rest of the wall is still quite sound, and not falling off (if it's a little loose you can still get away with it)..... use a spade/flat bit around the eges, and make some counterbores in line with the laths, then use stainless screws, and some large flat washers to screw back the...
