What is this dripping pipe and how do I stop it?

Thank you all. There is a downstairs toilet just the other side of the hall so that makes a lot of sense. I'll have a look at the fill valve.

What is this dripping pipe and how do I stop it?

Hi, My garage is attached to the house. Just under the door from the hallway to the garage is an open-ended white pipe, and it's started dripping water. I've attached a picture of it. Please can you let me know what it is, why it's dripping, and what I should do to fix it? Thanks for helping!

    Using Gimp to whiten snow

Try boosting the exposure by a stop or so. Snow fields confuse camera metering systems, they tend to get underexposed.

Please help with Nest Thermostat E that always calls for heat

Got it, thanks. I disconnected the wires from the Heatlink and did as you suggest. At the Heatlink there is always continuity between NO and COM regardless of whether the Thermostat E is asking for heat or set to off. I can hear a clicking noise from the Heatlink when it changes to off - but...

Please help with Nest Thermostat E that always calls for heat

Even with it set to 'Off' on the Thermostat E the heat remains on. Are there any other settings I should check? So swap it back to old Danfoss thermostat and try that? Will do, thanks! I'll report back with the result.

Please help with Nest Thermostat E that always calls for heat

Hi, I'm trying to install a Nest Thermostat E but I can't get it to work properly - it always calls for heat. Its replacing a Danfoss RMT230 wired like this: I wired in the Heatlink following the guide on this page: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9247634?hl=en-GB Where it...

Do these valves turn off the water to the taps above?

Perfect, thanks for your reply. I'll look for shutoff valves up near the cold water tank instead.

Do these valves turn off the water to the taps above?

Apologies for asking such a basic question, I've tried to use search here and on Google but I don't know what the names of these parts are so I couldn't find anything. All I'm trying to do is change a tap washer (cold tap in a downstairs toilet room). I need to turn off the water to do so...

    Replacement of MR16 transformers

Varilight responded as follows: So I figure the next model up (YT70LZ) which is rated up to 35w for LEDs would suit my purpose.

    Replacement of MR16 transformers

Thanks for the replies, seems to be a variety of opinions. I've emailed Varilight to clarify the maximum load of the transformer and also to check if it is compatible with GU5.3 LEDs. Depending on what they say I'll look into toroidal transformers, but I'm hoping to not need to go down that...

    Replacement of MR16 transformers

Thanks again, It's a 0-50w transformer designed for LEDs, it'll be powering ~30w of lamps. Transformer info is here (YT50LZ): https://www.varilight.co.uk/lighting/dimmable-transformers.php Transformer datasheet: https://www.varilight.co.uk/leaflets/YTZ%20Series%20Transformers.pdf Lamp info is...

    Replacement of MR16 transformers

Thanks TTC, You're right, if I was starting again I'd buy GU10 fittings and lamps, but I've bought the MR16 lamps now so was hoping to be able to use them. I figured a new single transformer for the 6 lamps at about £7.50 would be the most cost effective way, unless there is a reason why I...

    Replacement of MR16 transformers

Hi, In my bathroom I've got 6 MR16 fittings which I've just put LED lamps into, problem is couple of them flicker, presumably where the transformers aren't coping with the LEDs. Each fitting has it's own little transformer, so my question is can I cut off the old per-fitting transformers and...

Am I OK to mount TV on a log cabin wall using this bracket?

Good question, I hadn't thought to try that! I went and leant on it and gave it a few really good shoves, it doesn't seem to flex at all. Looks like I can get away with it?

Thanks for replying big-all, No, that's part of a window frame - here's another picture from further away. What do you reckon?

Thanks Lucid, I was pretty sure it would be OK but it's good to hear others think it should work too.(y)

Am I OK to mount TV on a log cabin wall using this bracket?

Hi, I've got a shed that looks like this: I want to wall mount a 14Kg LCD TV on the inside of it just to the left of the Window in the above picture. I was planning to use this bracket from Screwfix (fitting instructions are here). What I'm worried about is that the shed walls are 60mm thick...
