Screeching toilet - what could I try?

I replaced the float valve with a new one from B&Q (only £12) and that has totally corrected the problem. No more screeching! Thanks a lot guys for your help. :D

Screeching toilet - what could I try?

OK, can I replace it with any fill valve? I know the original was a A201 fill valve, but a quick Google and I don't think you can buy it anymore. Also, is it difficult to replace, do you need a plumber? or is just a case of turning off the water, unscrewing and replacing. Thanks.

10mm cable for electric shower question

I have been searching for this information but not being an electrician, I do not know the answer. If you get 10mm cable for an electric shower, say a 10kw electric shower, then what about the future. If electric showers say go up to 15 KW in the next decade would I still be able to use my 10...

Ok, so is this a reasonable quot for my bathroom

Wouldn't it great if you didn't have to shop around for quotes? I saved myself at least 100% of the cost of my kitchen by shopping around. Seems I will have to do the same for my bathroom. *sigh* Ok, its 6ft by 5ft6. Small. Contains a bath, basin with pedestal and WC. Electric shave rsocket...

any recommendation for a washer dryer - or are they all bad?

I went with a AEG-Electrolux L14710VIT Lavamat Turbo Its the top of the range AEG Electrolux one and I found one online for £530. It is reviewed in Which and they didn't totally slate it so I think this is gonna be as good as it gets. I read one person online giving it a glowing review...

any recommendation for a washer dryer - or are they all bad?

thanks John D - two heads are better than one!!! I do have a subscription to Which so I don't need to go to the library. Interesting about the John Lewis ones. There arenn't any integrated ones reviewed on which but i think my local store has some. Maybe its an idea for me to pop along and...

any recommendation for a washer dryer - or are they all bad?

yeah I take it by cheap we are meaning £300-£500. This is the impression I am getting. Its a false economy to buy cheap washer dryer. I was reading about how somebody had bought an indesit one for like £400 and the engineer who came out to repair actually told the guy that indesit washer dryers...

any recommendation for a washer dryer - or are they all bad?

Need to get an integrated (built in) washer-dryer for my new kitchen I am having. This is not as easy as it sounds. Which.co.uk doesn't recommend any saying they dry terribly and the rinsing is very poor. The only one they did almost recommend was a Hotpoint. However just one look at reviews on...

    storage heater question

Just bought a 30 year old flat off a pensioner which has economy 7. The meter, right enough, has a reading for normal and offpeak. How do the two storage heaters know when to kick in to store heat? - there are only two dials on the storage heaters, one for room temperature and one for number of...
