    Porch and front Door

I would submit planning showing the porch and the relocation of the front door on the plans. You may also need a warrant, probably not for the porch if (8m2 or less in Scotland) but for the relocation of the front door!? There is usually a duty planner at your council for free advice to confirm.

    Retro Fit Dry Verge

If you have long enough battens it would give some piece of mind but the top edge locking together seems to help hold things together. If you don't have a decent tile overhang it might not be quite so secure.

    Asbestos sarking board?

Hi, I need to fit some roof vents and a sunpipe into my roof. The sarking board looks exactly like plasterboard and has a similar consistency. As the property was build in the late 60s I am a bi concerned that it is asbestos. Any thoughts on how to deal with this aoppreciated!

Wooden Fascias getting old, paint or replace?

I have just done this and was advised to used 2 coats of butinox 3 over the existing gloss (as long as it is soun enough). Its not cheap but should last longer than gloss, covers brilliantly and is rainproof in an hour or two. I have been pleased with the resuls so far. As usual the main issue...

    Retro Fit Dry Verge

Hi, I'm in the process of fitting some. Very easy to fit. The only thing I don't like is that they are quite wide and cover more of the fascia than I would have liked. A lot quicker and easier than messing about with extending battens or fixing additional timber and seem pretty secure.

    HELP- Boiler flue runs!

The manual says 1500- but from a terminal, he is taking a terminal to include an extractor fan as he says there is a possibility of the fan drawing in spent gases.... :x

    HELP- Boiler flue runs!

It has an extract from the regs in the manual :( and it states from a 'terminal' spose it depends on the definition of a terminal. Still don't know wheter it is safe to insall a flue going vertically dow either.

    HELP- Boiler flue runs!

aaaaaaaaaaaaah, spoke to vokera technical and they say that although they think that there shouldn't be a problem as it is a fanned flue they advise that because it is an extractor fan it could potentially pull gasses into the property and 1500 should be maintained!!

    HELP- Boiler flue runs!

That was my argument that you can place it 300 under a window or an air brick, but he was having none of it. He has kept quoting the 1500 from a terminal- what would the definition of a terminal be?

    HELP- Boiler flue runs!

I have a boiler vent sited 1400mm below a new extract fan opening- building control won't sign it off until there is 1500mm clearance. As per the regs. Moving the fan or flue are not options I want to take on as my walls are stone and 750 thick! He has suggested that I could extend the flue...
