i think it is, the water is not warming up. is this a major job?

whichever was programme we use, the machine will not go any further than the was cycle, just keeps going and going until i cancel, pump out then rinse and spinn (these all work fine). we did have a noise when spinning which turned out to be a pound coin which had got under the drum. Any ideas?
