Whether or not the circuit is described by electricians as a ring main I need to try to sort it out so if anyone can answer the question I would be grateful.

Hi All, I've got to go round to a friends house later, to try to help him to get his lighting fixed. He has removed a ceiling light fitting without marking how the wires were connected, and they are apparently just hanging freely. What wires should there be and how should they be connected?
