    Blistering paint

Thanks for the tips misterhelpful. The paint is new (bought in Feb this year) and completely agree that it's far too thick. I think I've learnt the hard way that trying to get things done quicker just results in a poor finish. It may well be 'one coat' but it's a really horrible gloopy...

    Blistering paint

Here are some images taken today, each image is about a 4 inch section of wall to give you an idea: Paint Reaction when just applied by MightyMousette posted 30 Mar 2016 at 4:21 PM This wall has a previous coat of what looks like magnolia matt emulsion (painted by previous owners). I washed...

Paint Reaction when just applied onto treated surface

This has had Polycell 3 in 1 treatment for problem walls applied then allowed to dry. The Dulux one coat matt emulsion has been applied and although not as bad as before, there are still tiny bubbles bursting through leaving little holes.

    Paint Reaction when just applied

Dulux one coat matt emulsion painted onto clean but previously painted wall (painted by previous owners but looked like magnolia matt emulsion). The walls were cleaned with warm water.

How Paint Reaction Looked When Dry

This wall was treated with Polycell treatment for problem walls (some sort of PVA solution), then painted with Dulux one coat matt emulsion. This is how it looked when dry, the bubbles that appeared when wet have left tiny dimples.

    Blistering paint

Hi Carl, Did you manage to solve your paint problem? I am having the same problem so just thought I'd let you know a couple of things that didn't work (to save you the time and expense of trial and error!). I tried a base coat (Polycell 3 in 1 basecoat), it still bubbled/blistered up all...

    CDA electric oven fault

Turned out to be a faulty T.O.C. so basically the oven 'thought' it was overheating and was switching off. The giveaway was that the clock was switiching off as well. Anyway the offending thermostat has been replaced, new one was just under £8, job done.

    CDA electric oven fault

I've already had an engineer out who couldn't find the fault, he checked the cooling fan but said he couldn't check anything else without taking it away with him to the workshop, which is fair enough but we didn't want to be without an oven so we're just using the top oven for now.

    CDA electric oven fault

Hi, thanks for the reply. No I don't have a multimeter, is that something an engineer would bring with them to be able to test it? The strange thing is that it's always just over half an hour when it switches off, could it be overheating? I don't really understand how an oven is supposed to...

    CDA electric oven fault

Hi, Would be grateful for some advice. We have a CDA built under, electric double oven, about 6 years old. When you turn the main oven on, it heats up as normal, orange light goes off as normal when it reaches temperature, then after about half an hour it switches off and the clock also...

Washing machine tight fit under work top

He he  I wish he was cheap, but no, he's an installer from one of the big home improvement stores. So far all the wastes (kitchen sink, bathroom sink and bath) all have leaks, I think near the threads. And the other 4 leaks are in various other places like under hot tap, loo cistern...

Washing machine tight fit under work top

Well the good news is the fitter has taken off the worktop and positioned it slightly higher so there's about 1cm clearance between washing machine and worktop. Thanks for the advice. So now all we have to do is get him to sort out the 6 leaks in various places around bathroom and kitchen...

Washing machine tight fit under work top

Thanks, I will take a look at the feet. It is just a standard sized washing machine, currently 85cm high with the feet as they are, but the kitchen fitter has fitted the worktop too low and somehow managed to push the washing machine underneath it so the top of the washing machine is touching...

Washing machine tight fit under work top

Hi, Yesterday our freestanding washing machine was put under a new work top but there is no gap between the top of the machine and the work top. I was just wondering if this is ok or if there should be a gap. My concern is that when the washing machine is in use, the vibrations will hit the...

filling hole in wall with sockets either side

Thanks for the advice everyone, I'll go get some bonding and use a bit of cement with it then. I think I may have some unused spare metal capping that was left behind in my old house so I'll cover up the cables anyway just to be extra safe. I think these sockets are more of a mess than the...

filling hole in wall with sockets either side

Hello, We had some rewiring done and new sockets put in, I used patching plaster to fill around the new sockets and where the wires were chased into the walls, with a thin layer of jointing compound on top to get it nice and smooth. That all worked fine, but the last wall (about 9cm...
