Thanks for the various info gents. Been away for a few weeks so apologise for late reply. Fixed it before I went away and you are correct in that it was a low oil level. Only by a couple of mm so very confusing. Alls well that ends well and thanks again for the reply.

Have a problem with a buzzing noise from the pump when system is cold. Is present even when stationary. Disappears after warming up. Car is W reg Almera sport 1.8. Does not affect the operation but is annoying. I suspect the flow control valve in the pump but I believe it is not possible to...
