    Gas boiler insulation?

Hi ChrisR - New pump already installed. Boiler shutting down even though return pipe is cool. If I switch bypass valve to heat the water in the cylinder only, everything works fine until outer casing of boiler becomes excessively hot again. When it is switched to water only, the temp of the...

    Gas boiler insulation?

Hi All, Had a problem with a blocked heat exchanger on a Barlo Balmoral gas boiler recently which I rectified with help from this forum. However, I've noticed recently that the outer casing of the boiler becomes very hot after 20 minutes and the thermostat appears to cut in even though the...

    Fitting a new rad.

I wish to install 2 radiators to a newly built conservatory and luckily the main 3/4inch pipes from the boiler are conveniently located. I plan to connect plastic 1/2 pipes to these using compression fittings. how does the plastic pipe (i think its called qualpex) fit into a brass compression...

    Boiler overheating/shutdown

    Boiler overheating/shutdown

    Boiler overheating/shutdown

Thanks ChrisR - I've actually removed it and given it to a pal who has equipment he can connect it to and hopefully clean it out. Why do you think it became blocked again in such a short period of time? It was like new a month ago - would the additive I used in the water have caused it. When I...

    Boiler overheating/shutdown

Flushed the system with an air compressor and no blockages found in the pipework. Checked the heat exchanger again and the flow is definitely slowed and this appears to be the problem. I will try again to unblock it but I may need a replacement - does anyone know if this can be got for my boiler...

    Boiler overheating/shutdown

Tried a more powerful pump this morning - no improvement: boiler overheats and shuts down after 1 minute. Power flush is the next option.

    Boiler overheating/shutdown

I think you are confirming my suspicions oilman! The pipes are underground and I have found alot of sludge, solid matter in the pump casing each time I remove the pump. I connected a garden hose with good pressure to the system today but it did not solve the problem. Tomorrow, I will try a...
