    Horstmann HRFS1 Programmable Room Thermostat

I have the same system with the thermostat in line of sight of the receiver . It always takes about 10 minutes from the thermostat sending a signal to the receiver before my boiler pump starts to work. This happens even when I put the thermostat just a metre away from the receiver. My bypass is...

New toilet suitable for vertical outlet in floor

Thanks everyone. A local plumber called in this afternoon. He said that he can move the floor outlet closer to the wall as I have tongue and groove floorboards. He'd connect the outlet from the pan to the new floor outlet with a swan neck pan connector so that the cistern will be flush...

New toilet suitable for vertical outlet in floor

Thanks for your replies. It's not so much the connector being a problem. My concern is that the toilet cistern back will be too far away from the back wall. So perhaps moving the outlet in the floor closer to the back wall is the likely solution? Mike

New toilet suitable for vertical outlet in floor

I want to replace an old aubergine coloured toilet with a modern one. The outlet is a vertical one in the wooden floor with its centre 12 inches from the back wall. I'd appreciate advise on what toilets have a vertical outlet please. Also I anticipate that the back of the cistern will be well...

Wiring Horstmann HRFS1 Programmable Room Thermostat

My electrician said I should do it myself. I have tested the wires with a multimeter: yellow = live red = switched live blue = neutral So I'll be installing that Horstmann HRFS1 Programmable Room Thermostat. Was your question: "Why do you think you'll get a different answer if you ask...

Wiring Horstmann HRFS1 Programmable Room Thermostat

There's no need to be rude. The answers I received to my original question were significantly different from different people. One type of answer was to solve the problem at the boiler connections. The other was to solve it at the wall thermostat connections. Oh by the way if you need any...

Wiring Horstmann HRFS1 Programmable Room Thermostat

I've decided to replace my Drayton Digistat 3 programmable room thermostat with a wireless Horstmann HRFS1 Programmable Room Thermostat. Currently the only wires connected to the Drayton are Live and Switched Live at 240V as below. There are 2 options for wiring the Horstmann as below...

Wireless room thermostat: wiring for the receiver.

Sorry about delayed reply. (Back from the Great South Run) That's slightly more complex needing wireless: - Cylinder thermostat. e.g. Danfoss CET B-RF Cyl Stat (£42) - Room thermostat. e.g. Danfoss TP5000 SI Programmable room stat (£58 ) - Dual channel receiver to replace current...

Wireless room thermostat: wiring for the receiver.

Ah! I see the source of misinformation from me. I wrote earlier: "Also the boiler has its own timer programmer that is set to always on 24 hours so perhaps I could dispense with that after wiring in the wireless receiver appropriately to the boiler centre." I meant that the Horstman boiler...

Wireless room thermostat: wiring for the receiver.

I'm not offended and just wanted confirmation. The one you found is not programmable. Drayton has this programmable one though http://www.screwfix.com/p/drayton-digistat-3rf-room-thermostat/76816 . It is considerably more expensive than Horstman's...

Wireless room thermostat: wiring for the receiver.

So back to square one. I want to control the on/off times and temperatures. Typically on at 06:30, temperature 18, off at 08:00, frost protect temperature maybe 8, on at 17:00 temperature 18, off at 22:30, frost temperature maybe 8. What wireless sender/receiver pair and connections would...

Wireless room thermostat: wiring for the receiver.

For the sake of clarity: The Horstmann boiler programmer is set to All Day (not 24 hours but could have been) because the boiler is a gravity system and we don't need hot water at night. The Drayton Digistat 3 programmable wall thermostat is used to set the on/off times and temperatures...

Wireless room thermostat: wiring for the receiver.

Yes thanks. So the wireless thermostat controls the SCR for the on/off times, and temperatures. I believe that my current installation has timing redundancy due to a programmable boiler programmer and programmable room thermostat...

Wireless room thermostat: wiring for the receiver.

So I held one end of the wire in my left hand and the other end in my right hand? Here's what happened: http://205.243.100.155/frames/mpg/500kV_Switch.mpg Ah! to make and break a continuity in a wire? I assume that domestic light switches have a mains supply circa 240V whereas the...

Wireless room thermostat: wiring for the receiver.

The current thermostat is indeed battery powered. However when I put my multimeter across terminals 1 (yellow wire) and 3 (red wire) it showed AC 240V. That's why I proposed connecting terminal 1 to N and 3 to L. However I'm thinking that one of those terminals is the so called switched live...

Wireless room thermostat: wiring for the receiver.

The mains AC at 240V for the current battery powered thermostat flows between terminals 1 (yellow wire) and 3 (red wire, switched) The proposed SCR Receiver needs mains power so I intend to connect terminal 1 to N and 3 to L. Would the team confirm that this is correct please?

Wireless room thermostat: wiring for the receiver.

Indeed. We may see some of the glass based applications breaking out  On the topic subject an electrician said that I could use the wiring the thermostat currently uses and wire the receiver there. I need to check with my electrical multimeter that there is a live, switched live...
