Grundfos MQ 3-45 booster pump reassembly issue

Okay, finally sorted it. must have been the very act of posting on here inspired me! The circular yellow plastic piece which, in the servicing video, fits into the metal end housing, is stuck in the main body of the pump on mine (see my photo). It can be turned by hand, anticlockwise, as part of...

Grundfos MQ 3-45 booster pump reassembly issue

Thanks for the suggestion but yes. No new seals or O rings. There are only two - one big one which goes round the whole pump end and one smaller one which goes on the yellow part in the middle.

Grundfos MQ 3-45 booster pump reassembly issue

Hello, I had to remove the inlet end of my booster pump to get a new non-return valve fitted - but now I can't get it back on! It doesn't quite push far enough into place to allow me to get the three screws back in to fix it on. I've looked at the Grundfos servicing video on Youtube but...

Newly installed motorized valve not working

After all that, the main problem seemed to be a combination of the boiler being broken - water in oil tank and so pump ruined - and a seized circulating pump, which was persuaded into action with a few taps from my trusty lump hammer. Found myself a good young plumber and all is now running as...

Worcester Danesmoor 20/25 permanently locked out

Found a young chap who took the boiler apart and discovered not only a load of debris in the oil supply but also - in excess of 30 litres of WATER in the oil tank. The best theory for how it got there seems to be courtesy of the suppliers. Do they monitor how much water their tankers are...

Newly installed motorized valve not working

Sorry Ian, I think they're marked as Grey next to the terminals. They just look sort of lilac to my poor old eyes.

Sorry Matt, I'll try to be quicker this time. Will have a go over the weekend. Cheers, Brian

Worcester Danesmoor 20/25 permanently locked out

Thanks all for your comments and advice. I note some of you have latched on to my 'Allen key and spanner' comment - and I fully appreciate that I am not and will never be a competent boiler engineer. I also understand that in calling out an engineer, you're paying for his/her (diversity trained...

Worcester Danesmoor 20/25 permanently locked out

I'm sorry too Tony that I seem to have offended you by wanting to try my best efforts to solve the problem without costing a significant amount of money when I could possibly fix it for far less. I thought that was kind of the point of these forums and indeed the site (clue in the title -...

Worcester Danesmoor 20/25 permanently locked out

My oil boiler started locking out intermittently a while ago but would always run again after the reset (orange lit soft plastic) button was pressed. It gradually got worse - locking out more frequently - but would always fire up again with a reset. We had the boiler serviced by an unknown...

Newly installed motorized valve not working

Finally, yes I did Matt - and got 240v on the brown wire, nothing on the blue wire both times.

Newly installed motorized valve not working

Thanks both. Yes it was working, after a fashion, before I did all my replacements - although even beforehand the boiler was starting to lock out from time to time. Don't know what's happened in the months I left things in abeyance but yesterday I was getting nothing but orange lights and...

Newly installed motorized valve not working

Neither MV is doing anything - no noise, just the lights on - and the sliding switches on the side can be moved back and forth by hand with no resistance. Don't know if it's related but the Grundfos circulating pump (new) doesn't seem to be operating either, on any of its three positions...

Newly installed motorized valve not working

Hello again Matt1e - and thanks for getting back to me. Should have done all this a long time ago .... Did as instructed (terminated both together) and got orange lights on top of both heating and hot water MVs but no actual operation from either. I went and pressed the reset button on the...

Newly installed motorized valve not working

Sorry Agile, you've confused me. Measured brown (c) and blue (1) on cyl stat terminals and brown read 240v and blue was 0. B.

Newly installed motorized valve not working

Okay, finally (insert sarcastic drum roll) got my derriere in gear and tested as Matt1e instructed using my borrowed multimeter. First three terminals read around 240v as expected. However: Blue terminal labelled 1 in the cyl stat terminals read 0; Brown in the terminals labelled mid...

Newly installed motorized valve not working

Well, at long last I've managed to borrow a multimeter from a work colleague. I'm now confused by Matt1e's guidance though, as the meter doesn't have a 500 setting: Really need to get this problem sorted with winter fast approaching (and summer no great shakes anyway) and family...
