Bl**dy good question, but if he wont meet appointments!? anyway, yes the boiler does 'turn off' for 12 secs or so, but when it relights the DHW (the majority of the time) only comes through warm. If the tap is shut down to just over a trickle the water heats up. Where do i find the divertor...

Sounds like the heat exchanger is on its way out, have you noticed a drop in water pressure on the DHW side?
