Failed Rad removal, now leaking- help!

I went to remove a radiator prior to decorating, think I understand the concept ok: 1. Shut off valves 2. Loosen nuts either end of rad, allowing water to drain into bowl However, when I went to loosen the nut on the inner side of the valve, it was SO damned tight the whole valve assembly...

Removing Elec Shower, what to do with cable in wall?

We have a downstairs shower (Mira Sport) which is no longer required. I'd like to remove the entire assembly (tray, enclosure, shower unit) and I'd like to know, when the shower is off the wall (Power off at the wallboard obviously) what should I do with the feed cable? The wall will be tiled...

    Drains and blockages!

Righto, Having been in our house for 7 months now it became apparent a while ago that there was a pongy smell in the garden near one of the flower beds. I also noticed that there were two large slabs with a flower tub ontop, and around the slabs was always wet. One day I noticed water...

Why is my CH so rubbish? (Potterton Puma 100e Combi Boiler)

Just remembered to update this. I didn't pay for the flushing service, I explained in a very clear letter when they sent the invoice that their 'advice' to get a flushing done and then when that did not work that it was down to 'bad pipes' was just unprofessional. A week or so later I...

Any experience of the Aqualisa Quartz Electric 10.5KW?

This shower they say can pump out 16 litres per minute, I have confirmed with Aqualisa this is when set to cold, but when set to hot they also say it can pump out at 10litres a minute. This is way better than a typical Mira Sport of the same power which is a dribbly 6 l/pm. Anyone installed...

    New Shower, electric or Thermostatic?

We have a combi boiler (potterton puma 100e - don't laugh  ) that works ok as we had almost all of it replaced in January under warranty (PCBs, diverter valve, pump etc). We have a bath and three other hot taps in the house plus the usual cold feed appliances. We're looking to...

Why is my CH so rubbish? (Potterton Puma 100e Combi Boiler)

Exactly! Even the manufacturer's people had different opinions on it. I know for a fact that one of the bloke's phone calls early on was to a colleague who said we had the dripping tap and that it was NOT the diverter valve. So, being spineless he just repeated it and didn't want to investigate...

Why is my CH so rubbish? (Potterton Puma 100e Combi Boiler)

OK, I said I would let you know how we got on, a bit of a mixed story but it IS all fixed, here's what happened: Heateam man (Potterton Baxi Service team) arrived yesterday. He mentioned he had never worked on my type of boiler before and that he had only been with the firm for 3 months. Not...

Why is my CH so rubbish? (Potterton Puma 100e Combi Boiler)

    1. I Am getting a pro in, that's the point to the last 6 posts 2. Did take end nut off the pump, was spinning madly, did not remove pump head to check for signs of corrosion or buildup. Diverter Valve in process of being replaced as I type: here are some pics of the old one once it was off:

Why is my CH so rubbish? (Potterton Puma 100e Combi Boiler)

Dipone, I tried the 'dripping tap' test and even after an hour the heating was no different or better. I can see that the replacement of the wax capsule would be fairly simple on its own, and its only a £12.99 part, however I feel there is more wrong with this boiler as the previous owners...

Why is my CH so rubbish? (Potterton Puma 100e Combi Boiler)

I will admit that I AM having second thoughts about doing this for a few reasons: 1. I am not a plumber or boiler engineer 2. I don't have all the tools required 3. I could make things worse or replace parts and it still not be fixed So, I rang the Heateam company who are the service arm...

Why is my CH so rubbish? (Potterton Puma 100e Combi Boiler)

Can anyone advise on how to drain the boiler? How much water will need draining off exactly, are we talking about a litre or lots more? I read in my boiler manual that there is a bleed valve on the base of the diverter which needs to be open when refilling, which is another task I'm unsure...

Why is my CH so rubbish? (Potterton Puma 100e Combi Boiler)

I WAS RIGHT!! They thought the next thing to look at was the pipework....they completely dismissed looking at the boiler at all! I'm going to replace the damned thing myself. Hints and tips greatly appreciated !

Wax Capsule for Potterton Puma 100e

Is it the part code No. DV.410 ? £12.99? Anyone know the product code for the Pump on the same boiler?

Why is my CH so rubbish? (Potterton Puma 100e Combi Boiler)

The only thing I have to heat up the wax stat is one of those kitchen bunsen burner things and I'm conscious that I might cook it. Any hints on how long to warm it up? I know this is a noddy question, but just exactly how do you drain the boiler?

Wax Capsule for Potterton Puma 100e

Righto chaps, on another thread about my CH system, the consensus of opinion seems to be to replace the wax capsule in my boiler. Looking at the boiler manual I reckon I could do this myself quite easily. (with a little guidance) Can anyone tell me a part number and potential source to get...

Why is my CH so rubbish? (Potterton Puma 100e Combi Boiler)

Flushing being done today, watch this space....... OK< the flush has been done and apparently there was 'not much sludge' in the system. The flusher chappie called the chap who serviced the boiler (well, hoovered out lots of spiders as far as I could see). He apparently told the...
