What Size Pipes To Run For HW From Megaflow To Bathroom, Etc

I have just bought a house that was partially renovated, before the previous owner became ill, so I am finishing half done jobs. His plumber put in a new boiler and unvented cylinder, but there are no hw supply pipes to bathrooms or kitchen from cylinder. 1) The kitchen and one bathroom...

Extra Rads On Microbore System. Is This OK?

I've got a Broag 28c combi running a 10mm manifold and microbore system. The system originally had an 8 branch manifold, running 4 rads. As there were no extra tappings on the manifold, I aded an extra rad by teeing into the 22mm F and R pipes, and running 10mm pipe to the new rad. (Shown in...

    Gloworm 30cxi fluctuating hot water.

I also have a GW 30 CXI. Can I ask if this is the same problem as mine? When I shower, after a few mins, the hot water runs cold. I turn off, wait for a minute, then it runs hot again. This can happen twice during a shower. Hot taps also run cold or fluctuate if running for a few mins. Are...

Making S-unions watertight for a Hansgrohe shower

Millions of pipe unions all over The UK are sealed with PTFE tape. That's exactly what its for, sealing threaded joints. 6 clockwise turns of it (viewed from the open end of the pipe), then do it up nice and tight. Not too tight. Don't think about it, get on and do it man!

    Flap Valve Not Closing Fully

BUMP  Worried that the continual flow into pan and out into stack will freeze the stack.

    Flap Valve Not Closing Fully

The flap valve on my close-coupled wc seems to have started to stay slightly open. This causes a constant flow into the pan. I can't see any grit or scale stopping it from closing. What might be causing this, and how do I mend it? If replacement is the only answer, do I need to remove the...

Replacing Long Radiator With 2 Shorter Ones. Will This Work?

It looks like replacing my rusty 450 x 2200 double rad will be expensive, due to large/non-standard size. If I put 2 (500 x 1000) double rads in its place, it will work out much cheaper. My question is, will it work as well having 2 rads, joined with a 15mm pipe as in my diagram? Will I...

SOS - Just Bought Franke Low Pressure Mixer - No Good!!!

Thanks for the advice. Yes, its vented, gravity hot and mains cold. I'll try without the hot check valve. P. S. MUGGLES - Is that Vulcan still flying? I was working at a bank in the early 90s which was next to Filton runway, in Bristol (part of the BAE/Rolls Royce works). It was a big thing...

SOS - Just Bought Franke Low Pressure Mixer - No Good!!!

Re. Previous post. //www.diynot.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=1391015#1391015 The hot flow at my kitchen mixer was rubbish. Hot flow from tap was 3 litres/min. From the open pipe (ie. tap disconnected) its 9 litres/min. So I spent £140 on a Franke Helena low pressure tap, which needs...

Kitchen Mixer Reduces Hot Flow By 2 Thirds - Which New Tap?

Re. //www.diynot.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=1388079#1388079 The hot flow on my gravity hot, mains cold kitchen monoblock mixer is 3.5 litres per min. I disconnected the flexi from the hot service valve under the sink, and connected a length of 15mm Speedfit pipe to the valve. The flow...

Will Changing The Kitchen Mixer Improve The Poor Hot Flow?

Thanks Kevplumb. I'll have a look. So, if the other hot taps have good flow, do you think that the kitchen mixer is killing the flow? (dumb question I know!)

Will Changing The Kitchen Mixer Improve The Poor Hot Flow?

I live in a bungalow, with a vented heating system. Hot flow to all other taps is fine, but the flow to the kitchen monobloc pillar mixer isn't good. I don't know if the mixer is designed for low pressure/gravity systems, as it was installed just before we moved in. We have changed the hot...
