    HW Stopped Working

Are you telling me you've never Googled on how to do something, or to double check? Or asked someone for help? If not, I bow to your vast knowledge and expertise. If I was opening up the cylinder to fiddle around inside, I would understand your concerns, and appreciate your thoughts for my...

    HW Stopped Working

You're making a lot of assumptions about someone you don't know. Considering the tag line for this site is "Why not Do It Yourself?", I thought these forums were for people to ask questions about DIY queries, and for "experts" to offer assistance. Was I wrong? Obviously you're just here to...

    HW Stopped Working

Sorry, voltage, not current. These are the readings from the thermostat: Brown / Earth 0V 25C no call for heat 0V 65C no call for heat 240V 25C call for heat 240V 65C call for heat Blue / Black 0V 25C no call for heat 0V 65C no call for heat 240V 25C call for heat 0V 65C call for heat

    HW Stopped Working

Just popped home and tested the thermostat. I think it's bust. Set it to 25C (lowest setting), and checked the current across the in and out - looks like no current is going out. Typically it doesn't seem to be an off the shelf thermostat (ie, Screwfix, Wickes etc don't sell them), as it has...

    HW Stopped Working

The Nest has been wired in since December last year, so I don't think it's that, especially as it doesn't interfere with the HW circuit (as far as I'm aware).

    HW Stopped Working

It seems like the heating for our hot water has stopped working for some reason, so hoping someone could point me in the right direction to determine what's failed. If I request HW on the controller, the boiler doesn't fire up (ie the request for heat light doesn't light up, and the boiler...

    Wireless Pump Control

Thanks @dean7445 I'm going to get the MainsLink ordered, and go from there. Looks like the cheapest is £118.80 after VAT (http://www.rfsolutions.co.uk/acatalog/info_MAINSLINK.html). On a side note, our hot water seems to have stopped working (CH is working ok). Great!

    Wireless Pump Control

Would someone mind advising what an approx hourly rate would be for a heating engineer in the Midlands area please? I need to invoice Permission for the install, but I'm going to do it myself so could do with an estimate of how much it would have cost (without the hassle of ringing around).

    Wireless Pump Control

Yeah, but happy to install a second isolation point at completely different ends to the room than the first. Not entirely happy with having to isolate something at multiple locations (that and ugly sockets everywhere), even if I do just switch things off at the fusebox.

    Wireless Pump Control

Thanks muggles, I thought the same - just wanted to double check. Next up is convincing the builder to just buy the MainsLink for me, and be done!

    Wireless Pump Control

The builder has already agreed to get it sorted, but the heating engineers / plumbers want to go the route of installing a second isolation switch for the boiler, in a different place to the first, to allow them to wire the pump in without ripping up floorboards. I've spoken to them about the...

    Wireless Pump Control

When you said 'mains link', to me it meant 'wire to the mains' (ie in a different circuit to the boiler, which is one of the options we have), I didn't realise you meant the 'RF Solution Mainslink'

    Wireless Pump Control

Hi all, Summary: Is there any such thing as a wireless pump controller? Long explanation: When wiring in my Nest thermostat a while back, I found that our Ideal Logic 15 boiler hasn't been wired to the manufacturers instructions - the pump hasn't been wired directly to the boiler...

Nest Heat Link wiring - pump always on

Excellent thanks! I'll upload a new image with the Heat Link connections labelled, for anyone looking in future.

Nest Heat Link wiring - pump always on

Unfortunately our thermostat only has two cables connected to it - L and N. Seems that power is only running through L and N when there's no call-for-heat - if you put the thermostat temp up above what it is currently, there's no longer power running through it. I'm putting the Nest...

Nest Heat Link wiring - pump always on

Yeah the current programmer will stay on to control the HW.

Nest Heat Link wiring - pump always on

Ok, so altered the diagram to include the Nest Thermostat and Nest Heat Link. * R/S ON is no longer connected to anything * CH ON is only connected to the programmer now, so guess this means CH doesn't need to be on at all on the programmer? * Heat Link runs off L and N on the main...
