Steps, cement or not, and what to put under them.

The drive is steep, and the garage turned into a flat, so set about turning the first couple of yards into a patio, gardener had a heart attack, had to DIY, and load of building up required, so used ash from local steam trains, which seems to have worked well. So now knocked down shed, and need...

Plug in balcony solar UK , just a Lidl question

Sorry, my point is the markings are normally obscured but the CU cover. The "they shall be clearly marked" does not say on the normally visible part, but I suppose one could say not clearly marked if on a part of the device not normally visible?

Plug in balcony solar UK , just a Lidl question

Thank you, @mikehammer69 the report states So with RCBOs, we can, it seems, identify between the two types. So it seems this also covers the RCD, so all we need is like when we get a meter change, and they mark the fuse size on the DNO fuse, we can have the RCD/RCBO type marked on the CU. So...

Socket will not fit socket box of same make.

I have a BG outdoor socket, can't see any fault, or detect a fault with an insulation tester, but seems easy option is to change socket. I wanted another socket in a plastic socket box, i.e. one which will bend slightly, not a Bakelite like material, so instead of getting just a standard socket...

    Yes, of course.

Yes, we have talked about that. Possibly, but my point is, if not written in Welsh as well, then clearly not important to read it, for items sold in Wales.

BFT Electric gate won't open - control units says STOP

2015 there was a report about a child's death due to a poorly fitted gate. From that point most electrical firms refused to fit electric gates, it's not the £50k fine, it's that even a firm specialising in fitting them, can easily get it wrong. Bottom right may be a battery, and may need...

Plug in balcony solar UK , just a Lidl question

Yes, I made up the box, then sat down and read the instructions. But in the living room, not in the general. ;) But I got a 20 volt drill, which was sold without battery or battery charger, and the instructions included fitting a plug. Yes some instructions after wading through them, give...

Plug in balcony solar UK , just a Lidl question

Thanks to @denso13 we now know "without socket or building wiring modifications" so would mean use of the BS 1363. But the result could be simply no it can't be safely deployed, or since the EV socket already exists could be yes an EV socket can be used for solar. A quick look at the G98 it...

Plug in balcony solar UK , just a Lidl question

The Press release calls it "plug-in solar" it does not say 13 amp or BS1363. This says within months. Where the press release which says within the month I don't know, neither have I seen any government press release which says BS 1363, this is just something we have assumed it was talking...

Shaver socket, beard trimmer and future-proofing the bathroom

I did have a cordless set but found these worked better I have bought the electric type, but they seem to be covered with a rubber like stuff, which gets sticky. But as you say not used much anyway it seems a lot of money for a once every 6 months trim.

Plug in balcony solar UK , just a Lidl question

Since it seems you will still need to register your going to use a generator connected to the grid, (note battery still seen as a generator even though it technically just stores energy) then some installed device will need to be registered instead. It seems we can use a EV point as it stands...

Plug in balcony solar UK , just a Lidl question

I agree with @Old Salt however it makes their website pointless. I feel we have now done the subject to death, there seems to be no safe way to ensure all homes can plug in solar panels without danger. Yes, I have sockets I know I can use, but not all in the home, and there seems to be no...

    Octopus Smart meter.

Yes, I would not provide them will readings either. The smart meter up north and down south is not the same. We have a north/south divide, I assume Isle of Wight is south so used mobile phone masts? But it is all too easy to forget there are two systems, it seems in the north they could revert...

Non-bidirectional RCD/RCBO feeding sockets, should they get a code C2 with EICR?

Exactly, which is why I started the thread. Google fusebox rcbo rtamb, and we see this which is bidirectional where this one is unidirectional easy to identify as the test button swaps from top to bottom. But as I looked at other makes, even the data sheet does not say which they are, only the...

    Octopus Smart meter.

Since virtually no mobile phone signal, any smart meter will likely fail to work in smart mode. So you will not get the benefits, and it will need a meter reader to visit, with an outside meter box, we did not even know when it was read, he just did it. However in this house, the meter is in...

Non-bidirectional RCD/RCBO feeding sockets, should they get a code C2 with EICR?

The rental sector leaves the occupant with no control as to if RCDs are fitted, or RCBOs are fitted, he has to live with what the landlord has provided. He can't add sockets or FCU, or install anything. As a result we need rules and regulations to make the occupant safe. As his only other...

Non-bidirectional RCD/RCBO feeding sockets, should they get a code C2 with EICR?

Yes, we could require electricians doing an EICR to label either sockets or CU as OK or not OK for solar, but that would take 5 years to get all rental properties marked up.

    Roads that give cyclists priority.

Of course, I do, I drive a car as well. But there are two types of cyclist, those who use a bike to get from A to B at a leisurely pace, and the they both ride bikes, but at 75 my top speed is around 10–15 MPH, and at that speed sharing with pedestrians is not a problem. But the Lycia warrior...
