Can I preheat the feed to my combi boiler?

Sorry I know this is an old discussion but I'm having exactly the same conversation now and wondering, which combi boilers will accept pre-heated water and which won't? It looks like Vaillant Ecoplus (which we also have) doesn't allow it, but Worcester (which models??) does. Any other data points?

Bosch cooker hood motor wiring (model number DHE635AGB)

The wires that used to go to the fan motor look like this (I'm assuming there's a ground, a neutral, and three lives corresponding to the three speeds: The fan motor looks like this: Can anyone advise on which wires need to go where? Thanks!

Bosch cooker hood motor wiring (model number DHE635AGB)

Thanks Ericmark. The fan still works (or was working before is was detached), so I'm determined to solder them back on. I'll send pictures tomorrow and hopefully it will all be clear.

Bosch cooker hood motor wiring (model number DHE635AGB)

In the process of disassembling and cleaning a very greasy cooker hood, my father-in-law managed to totally detach the wires from the motor assembly. It looks easy enough to solder them back on to the motor, but I have no idea which wire goes where. Does anyone have a picture or diagram of the...

Grohe basin mixer tap misbehaving, but cannot get cap off

I have a Grohe "Eurosmart Cosmopolitan" mixer tap which doesn't turn fully to the right (cold). I fear was incorrectly installed, but no way to get the cowboy back so must fix it myself. I took the grub screw out no problem, but for some reason the handle isn't coming off like it should. Is it...

Lime mortar outside/gypsum plaster inside - damp problems?

ANSWERS: **The beds were well raked out, and the mix was lime + sharp sand (no cement). I don't have the exact ratio, but the guy who did it knows his stuff. **Sorry, typo, patching and then skim coat over the old plaster, which I assume was lime. ** We installed a railing/barrier. That...

Lime mortar outside/gypsum plaster inside - damp problems?

Hi Jimbo, There was a tiny bit of damp which only seemed to appear after the gypsum skim coat went on (presumably on top of existing old lime plaster, which in truth wasn't in great condition after all the wallpaper came off). We assumed it was due to cold walls, and a few days of dehumidifying...

Lime mortar outside/gypsum plaster inside - damp problems?

No, we removed all external render - want to go back to the original bricks and lime mortar. Problem is that the guy who did the inside wasn't thinking along the same lines, and put a skin coat of Thistle multi-finish (no lime), and in a few places went back to brick, yes. I've put some pics...

Interior lime: #1 - what to do with gypsum skim?

Sorry, but I have a similar problem and wonder if I can ask some advice from some of the Lime Plaster experts on this forum. We recently did a major rehab or our 1890's house, including removing some horrible cement render and replacing a surface layer of sand-cement based mortar with lime...

Lime mortar outside/gypsum plaster inside - damp problems?

We recently did a full rehab or our 1890's house in South London, including removing some cement render, replacing a surface layer of sand-cement based mortar with lime (the original was lime). Inside, wallpaper was removed and a new skim of plaster added in most rooms. I now realize that the...

Lime mortar outside / Cement plaster inside - causing damp?

We recently did a full rehab or our 1890's house in South London, including removing old cement render from part of outside wall, returning all mortar to original lime mortar (some had 1" of cement mortar on top), and new plaster on inside walls. A couple of the walls are now having some...

Biscuit joints for windows and doors?

Thanks everyone, for your very honest assessments. It sounds even worse than I thought. The good news is that I haven't paid a penny yet, though the original quote was not low at all. The whole thing doesn't make sense, as a real cowboy would always insist on payment up front, right? We...

Biscuit joints for windows and doors?

Thanks Big all, though 3 years is not a happy prognosis. What is a "small top opener"? Attached is a picture of the French door frame - still not installed - the man claims the joint is nearly as good as M&T, but there is no way of knowing even if I tear it apart, no? Do these pictures...

Biscuit joints for windows and doors?

We didn't agree on the type of joint, but the man who built them disparaged others who don't use M&T, so I assumed that he would. Upon interrogation, he says he lacked a M&T jig and used a combination of biscuits, two screws, and a 22mm deep M&T-like joint. It sounds very makeshift, and not...
