    Which petrol lawnmower?

The rear lawn is about 15m x 10m and the front is an odd shape but has a fairly steep gradient. Is it worth the extra £40 on the 2 models I'm looking at?

    Which petrol lawnmower?

Hi, you've said self-propelled obviously, is that a big thing? Presumably it means once it's started it takes off in a cartoon stylie? Is it really necessary for smaller gardens?

    Which petrol lawnmower?

Thanks John. I'll have a look into the Honda. Just had a quick look on B&Q at ones with Briggs & Stratton engines, do you know much about the Webb mowers? There don't appear to be any reviews for them (is that a sign I wonder?). They appear to tick my boxes.

    Which petrol lawnmower?

Hi, Can anyone make a recommendation for a petrol lawnmower please? I currently have an electric mower that's on it's last legs. I have a front and back lawn that are a pain with an electric mower as I'm always having to move the cord out of the way. My neighbours have electric ones and...

Heavy clay causing side of garden to flood.

Hi all, Hope you can help. My rear garden shares a boundary on all 3 sides. The ground is clay and on one side the neighbour's garden is slightly higher than mine so when it rains not only does my side flood but I also get a mini waterfall from their side. It's a lawned area so I can't...

    Why is my wallpaper bubbling?

Thanks everyone for your advice. Misterhelpful you hit the nail on the head. I wasn't leaving the paper long enough to soak up the paste before hanging it. I left it for 10 minutes before hanging and they've gone on more or less perfect and no bubbles! The last wall I did was "paste the...

    Why is my wallpaper bubbling?

Hi all, I'm after some advice or suggestions with regards to wallpapering please. I recently decorated my bedroom but left the end wall blank so I could wallpaper it and have a feature wall. The wall previously had wallpaper and lining paper which has been stripped off and the wall sanded...

Any tips for planting conifers for a border?

As the fence is shared with the neighbouring house, changing this would involve them and would be expensive especially if they didn't want to contribute. I don't fancy having to dig out all the footings either. Planting a coniferous border would be quicker and would not involve the...

Any tips for planting conifers for a border?

Hi all, I'm planning on planting some kind of border between my garden and the neighbouring garden for privacy. Currently there is a low fence which offers little privacy and is not very good in stopping footballs, frisbees, tennis balls etc from flying into the neighbours garden! I have...

Gas fire is making an intermittent crackling/popping sound.

Hi, I've got a Flavel Richmond gas fire which was fitted in 2004 which has been working perfectly up until last week. It ignites perfectly etc but from time to time it starts to make a crackling sound, sometimes a popping sound. I can usually eradicate the noises if I decrease or increase...

How to secure fitting for a rotary clothes dryer.

Thanks very much for all your responses. I'm going to go with the lawned side simply so I don't have to dig up my newly laid patio. Going back to Dextrous' comment about a bit of scaffolding, where would I be able to get that from? Thanks.

How to secure fitting for a rotary clothes dryer.

Hi, I'm currently in the process of sorting my back "garden" out. Facing away from the house i've got a 40 foot long space which is the width of the house, the left half is now paved and the right half has been levelled off ready for laying a lawn next year. We've got one of those rotary...

How deep to set a concrete fence post?

I was planning on mixing my own concrete as I've heard poor reviews about postmix. When I was digging out the old concrete, parts of that were still dry and crumbly so presumably that was a readymix fo some sort. What do you recommend?

How deep to set a concrete fence post?

Thanks Thermo. To clarify, ram dry concrete mix into the holes, fill to level required then pour water into the dry mix and let it filter down to set?

How deep to set a concrete fence post?

How do you guys usually hold a concrete post in place whilst the concrete is setting to ensure it stays vertical? Thanks.

How deep to set a concrete fence post?

Slightly off topic but..... Where the fence will end and meet the path next to my house, presumably I use an "end" concrete post. Can you drill into these in order to attached a gate? Does it matter which side of the gate is attached to the end post, the hinged side or the handle side...
