    Chaffoteaux & Maury Combination boiler

Get a service engineer to check gas settings, if ok then look at pcb, detection electodes(i think there is a update with longer probe) this is if the boiler locks out with gas alight, if gas is not lighting then pcb, spark electrode or spark generator, Gary

    ariston microgenus lockout l.e.d.

Did you have it flushed last time if not, get someone to have a look at your heating water, and if you did i would try a new thermistor before new boiler.

If detection electrode was the same length as the one you replaced it might be worthwhile checking with there technical department to see if there was an update (longer probe) i think there was and get the part number, if you have already fitted update than it would be a new PCB, Gary.

    Plumbers V heating engineers

It's mental, there's no regs for unvented and gas regs are kind of voluntary till the end of the year when everything will be run by Corgi, the gas regs are a watered down version of uk regs with little differences like a soundness test will be 5 min stabilization 2min test let-by, then 5 min...

I totaly agree, i'm not anti plumber i'm anti plonker, but the the installations i have described are the norm and as someone who likes a quite life i wish there were better trades men across the board, the op was wondering about why all singing all dancing heating engineer would charge more...

    Plumbers V heating engineers

Nope, there's no good working practices or gas regs here, i see plumbers as (****) artists as they install heating systems and plumbing in what ever creative mood they are in, so no two installations are the same, the builders will have some input but the buck stops with the plumber as they are...

    Plumbers V heating engineers

Plumbers they don't flush systems, they use auto fillers to hide water leaks and if they have accidentally plumbed the washing machine in to the heating circuit you can't always get a 40c wash, they zone a house and put switches under the boiler to control the zones, but they do use felt tip to...

New boiler - But system not flushed

You have to trust your plumber to do his job as it will all depend on how bad it is to start with, but with a proper power flush there should be no issues and even with a cleanser they can do a good job, as a manufactures technician i would prefer a power flush over a cleanser, if you look at...

New boiler - But system not flushed

As long as the system water is clean by the time he has finished his flushing and cleansing process and a inhibitor is added it is very unlikely you will have any problems, Gary.

    New boiler: Viessmann?

The only problems i have come across is the F4 fault which has manly been the spark generator, i like dealing with Viessmann because even if a product is out of warranty they will give me parts for free, if it looks like it could be a boiler fault and i just charge for fitting.

    New boiler: Viessmann?

Viessmann have a very good reputation, they are starting to offer a 5 year warranty if fitted by a Vissmann agent, thats in Ireland anyway, but i am sure it would be the same over there, Gary.

    Ariston Microgenus shutdown

Yep, new pcb required, ask Ariston for the details of their local agent who should fix it with out any dramas' if they won't do under warranty. A nice fault on the MG II is the E34/A77 both the pcb and aps require replacing failing that new wiring loom from the pcb up to fan etc.. and on the MG...
