Thanks Ian, what would the best course of action to take now? Try to mortar under the sills with the windows in place? ( not very effective ) or to fill with some other material? Silicon does not seem to be the best for this job, but does seem favourite with the fitters...

I am having Double glazing fitted and usually leave the professionals to get on with the job, but I did notice that when the frames were fitted they left the old ( loose ) mortar in place and put the frames on top. Is this ok? Or should they have put new mortar in? They are coming back to...
