New shower - sealing advice required

Thanks for the advice, I will look at wall treatments. The plastix tray has a metal welded frame inside it that the legs are joined to. I presume this is the kind of thing you were on about making for it?

I appreciate the comments, however this is an anusual shape cubicle that came with it's own tray so changing it isn't really an option.

New shower - sealing advice required

I read about them on some of the posts on here, it would appear they stick onto the top of the shower tray and fix behind the tiles, creating a watertight seal. I have made a big effort to ensure the partitiion walls where the shower is are exactly at 90 degrees so your original installation...

Jason, do you make the carcasses from scratch from MFC? if so, how readily available is MFC (I know B&Q etc sell Contiboard but only in white these days) And again where can I source veneered MDF? It looks like some of the bathroom cupoard doors and drawer fronts are pre-manufactured, is...

    Washstand and bathroom furniture advice

As part of a new extension I am installing a basin in my Daughters new bedroom, plumbing is installed ready and I have a round basin that is designed to sit on a worktop. Having seen the extortionate prices that washstands are going for (£200-300 easily) I am considering making one myself. It...

UPDATE: Problem sorted, I removed the rubber washer then cleaned it up with some hot soapy water. I sprayed it with a silicone rubber lubricant and refitted it. Now nice and quiet.

    Noisy toilet cistern when filling

I have a standard coupled basin/cistern, approx 18 years old. When you flush the toilet there is a fog horn type noise, I have taken the top of the cistern and the noise stops when i pull the ball up. The cold water feed pipe vibrates quite badly when the noise happens and you put your hand...

Couple of quick supplemental bonding questions

Would I get away with bonding the pipes under the sink, which also feeds the shower at the opposite side of the wall? (All pipes are under the floor) Should I also bond the cold water pipe to the WC?

    Dimmable spotlights

Thanks Space Cat for a very thorough reply, so even the dimable spots I have purchased will not be ideal for the job. I have a 400w dimmer switch running 5 x GU10 (50w) spots but it doesn't work properly. This is why I posted the first question, these were particularly cheap and cheerful set...

    Dimmable spotlights

Thanks......... The advice I want is to understand why some GU10 spotlights are sold as dimable and some aren't? I have some CFL's which obviously aren't dimable, I have some 'cheap' GU10's which don't say that they are or aren't dimable and they don't work properly with my dimming...

Couple of quick supplemental bonding questions

Thanks guys for the replies. How would you normally bond the shower pipes, as they are buried in the wall and I believe the earth bonding points are supposed to be visible. I hadn't apprciated that all circuits in the room had to be bonded together as well, although I guess this is only...
