Hi all many thanks for the advice - I think I have it sorted, blocked return pipe from the cylinder coil to the boiler seems to have been the problem. Checked, the shaft moves easily. So is the next step to replace the valve? and if so do i drain the rads or just the cylinder? Cheers for the help - if i cant sort it today i will need a quote.

I took the central heating head off the valve and put it on the hot water one - i know it worked on CH this morning.

Thanks for the advice i think you might be right - esp about sods law... So do i only have to drain the cylinder or the whole system?

OK so i put it back to hot water only and i manualy opened the valve that is tight - but "will slowly open when force is applied" and i am getting the boiler on but with hot rads. THEN i turned off the rad valves and went to CH and HW and now nothing...
