I am looking to re-route my upstairs/downstairs cold water and hot water supplies. My ideal route, which has plenty of width, does not have the necessary depth to take a 15mm pipe without channelling out brick work. Therefore, is it possible to run 2 x 8mm pipes in place of a single 15mm pipe without any loss to water pressure/flow? The hot water is gravity fed where, of course, the cold water will be at mains pressure.

loads more resistance in 8mm then 15.
I wouldnt consider it :(

Cross sectional area of 1 x 15mm = 177 sqmm

Cross sectional area of 2 x 8mm = 100 sqmm

Plus, as has been said, extra flow loses with the 8mm pipes.

You'd need far more than just 2 of them to perform the same as a single 15mm.
