Hi All, first post so be gentle....

Have an Alpha CB50 (50 ltr storage) not the most reliable of boilers I must say, approx 6 years old.

The rads downstairs are taking an age to get hot, like hours, the ones upstairs seem fairly normal, I dont have a zoned system so nothing there.

My question is what do I look at, the pump, which seems fine (on highest speed) or the diverter valve, which you can't 'look at'?

My hunch is the diverter valve restricting flow but it's an expensive hunch to get wrong!

Any pointers much appreciated.

That senario is often caused by a weak pump or dirt in the impeller.

Thats of course if the system is not sludged up.

To check the latter you could do the "bucket test" ( see FAQ on this site for details).
