Anyone know what a spreader elbow is on a Baxi WM 382 RS

Bit before my time I'm afraid. Anyway, it's leaking. I've checked the install docs at partsarena which says "IT MUST BE FITTED", but doesn't say what it does.

Clueless as usual. Any hints or tips gratefully received.

As far as I can remember it goes on the return and its to spread the water back into the waterways throughout the heat exchanger. If you don't fit it the return water will just go into one part of the waterways and not pick up enough heat.

Thanks Cozzmic, I phoned Baxi and they said exactly the same thing. And there was me who was gonna just take it out!
