Ariston LI62 Dishwasher not releasing detergent tblet

We have an Ariston LI 62 dishwasher which has worked perfectly well for over 4 years. Just recently it has not been washing properly and we have found that the door on the tablet holder is not opening during washing.

We are using the Fairy Active Bursts where the wrapper disolves in the wash. This has not been happening either. Are the two problems linked

Anybody any ideas?
