I am considering installing a shower in my bathroom, the current basin and bath share the same 2.25 inch copper waste pipe. Can I add a shower to this pipe or will the water from the bath backfill into the shower tray which is the furthest point from the main drain outlet ?

You should be okay, if not you can fit a non-return waste pipe valve

From the manufacter:

IMPORTANT: This product is designed to prevent a back flow of water. It must only be used when there is no alternative and on the basis that it is cleaned regularly.

"2.25 inch copper waste pipe."

Really? Not standard. Nothing will fit!

Whoops sorry, should be 1 1/4" pipe, problems always seem bigger than they are !
