After several years of intermittent problems, and feeling like nearly every engineer in the county in which I live has had a go at sorting my boiler ignition fault out, it would appear that the fan is blowing the pilot light away from the main burner. I understand that this is a common problem with this particular boiler.
It usually takes about 5 mins to ignite from the time the pilot lights, but there are occasions when it doesn't and only a tap on the side of the boiler ruffles the pilot flame enough for it to reach the burner. It's not the end of the world, but getting up at 05:30 some mornings to tap the boiler can be a bit of a pain.
At the moment I am assuming that this is non fixable, as I'm told that the pilot flame is non adjustable, and neither is the fan, but if there is anyone out there who believes it can be sorted then it would be good to hear from them.
