Hi People, Im new here, so please bear with me if i sound stupid, thanks.

I don't know much about boilers until i got the problem with my boiler day before yesterday, there wasn't hotwater yesterday suddenly, when i tried to switch on, the light comes on the control unit but no sound from the boiler, i opened the cover at the bottom, the 'boiler on' light is on none of the other lights are on.

I have turned the knob to 6 it came on with all lights on and after a minute its stopped again. overheat light is not on, so its not overheated or anything. i have opened the boiler cover and the inner cover then tried starting its started again and stopped after a minute, like that what ever after a new change it start once and stops. don't know whats the problem is, another thing is all our lights are amber colour but i have noticed in this form someone saying green lights, so i don't know, whether it should be green/amber.

Another thing i have noticed is, upstairs one pipe which is going to hotwater tank is hot, feel like hot water in there but no hot water in the house or boiler doesn't look working. so can some one put some light on my issue please. im happy atleast its not november or december. Thank you very much. :?:

For most pumps, place an old towel under the pump, then remove the silver screw in the center. You will get a small amount of water run out.

Insert a flat bladed screwdriver, locate it in the slot and turn. If you can't turn it the pump is stuck. If you can turn it, check for 240VAC (very carefully) at the pump terminals.

See FAQ's for further details on pumps.

Hi Dave, I have checked the pump, it seems to be fine, I can turn with the screw driver, then i have opened the screws with Allen keys and pump has been taken apart, i can see little bit dust and cleaned it and put it back on, and after some time switched on the boiler, it runs for 2 min and switch off the pipes on the boiler are very hot so thermostat is switching off the boiler.

when the boiler is switching off i can hear the sound like draining out, like no water, just air flow, i guess may be air lock but don't know, next thing if its air lock how to remove the airlock, could you please give me some instructions or what to try if its not airlock. Thanks for the help.

You should have got water out when you took the pump apart. Check your feed and expansion cistern You may have a blocked cold feed or the float operated valve could be jammed.

Yes, you should have not found any dust in it

Don't use your boiler until you have found the reason why your system is not full of water.

Check FAQ's on how to remove blockage in cold feed T where it joins the system pipe work.

Hi Dave/Mike, thanks for the replies, as mike said, there was a blockage on the pipe, one volve has closed completely and not opening even after turning the wheel, so, i took off that volve and put a new one in place and started the boiler, bingo, works perfectly. saved atleast 50 quid by doing myself with your help. thank you very much.
