Any thoughts on Blackfriar paints in particular the problem solving primer? Anyone used it, is it any good as a stain block and would you recommend it. Someone recommended it to cover a gloss finish that has some wood stain or tannin bleeding through. It is water based but if it does what it says on the tin it could be the answer to my problem.

Any advice appreciated, cheers

Me never used it. However, the best thing for bleedin tan stain for wood is Aluminium Primer Sealer.

For troublesome surfaces that are grief to wash down, like Artex with nicotine stains I mix the first coat of paint 50/50 with our old friend PVA allow to dry and then bang the second on...works a treat.
