Boiler pipes burst when I switched off all the radiators with heating on?

I don't know much about plumbing but from my understanding, shutting off all the radiators in your system with the heating on shouldn't cause your boiler to overpressure?

The other night I closed off the radiator in my bedroom meaning that none of the radiators in the house were on but we still had the heating on. Moments later the cold water inlet pipe to the boiler burst into two. The next day the boiler repairman said the heat exchanger was leaking as well.

What's the question?

Andy
I want to know if, assuming the boiler isn't faulty already, me shutting off all the radiators can cause the water mains for my boiler to blow off and then the heat exchanger in the top of it to burst and why because that's what happened .

Not likely, usually if a pressure issue would discharge from safety discharge pipe via pressure relief valve.

Why would turning off one rad result in all rads being turned off?

Chances are it was just coincidental, sounds more likely to have been a surge in the cold mains to have caused that.

Because I had all the other rads turned off and the one in the bedroom was the only one left open.
