bosch classix washer replacing prog knob

a freak accident, which completely and cleanly severed off the programme knob led to this unusual repair need, which is proving as popular as a pig at a bamitzvah with engineers - so going to give it a go myself.

found the replacement knob on bosch site that's only a tenner.

but a complete beginner in the washing machine diy stakes - any advice?
