i have a bosh washing machine -model WAA24171GB
i had a filter hose problem which i sorted but when i connected back upthe machine i turned on a washing cycle and pressed start-no water was coming into the drum-i had forgotten to turn back on the water supply hose- i turned off the power to the machine, turned on the water supply and tried again-but this time no lights appeared on the control panel- i checked the fuse in the plug-it is fine-i took off the top of the machine and checked for power where it enters the machine -its getting power 220volts-i followed the two red cables to the control panel and tested for power -one connection has 220 volts , the other connection nothing- im thinking is the control panel blown or would there be a fuse somewhere hidden on the panel board
any help much appreciated

Are you saying you measured across the 2 reds or from each one to earth? Does the input cable go to a suppressor before it goes to the board?

hi ,thanks for replying
i measured from each red connection to earth seperately
the power supply into the machine brown ,blue, and earth cables wire into a box looking similar to a relay switch ,maybe this is a supressor, and the two red wires come out of this box to the control panel

You need to check that it has 240v going in & out of it first, if not then it would appear to be faulty & causing your problem.

ok-thanks again -i will check that and let you know how i get on :)

i disconnected the suppressor and brought it to a washing machine parts centre and he told me it was not faulty-so what next- someone suggested it might be a door sensor but how would i get access to this-what do you think?
the guy at the parts centre wasnt very helpful ,he was more interested in gettig me to ring a call out engineer-thats what im trying to avoid unless i have to ;) jc

First of all are you using a multimeter to test the voltages?
Did you get an input (230V) at the suppressor when measuring across the live & neural( ie the mains cable brown/blue)?
Did you get an output across the wires leaving the suppressor?

thanks again for your reply
when i refitted the supressor in the machine ,having done nothing with it
,i powered up the machine just to test it ,having been told it was not faulty- and the lights lit up on the display-dont know why -but the machine is working perfect now-
emergency over
thanks again for all your help
regards john

Thanks for the feed back, my suspicion would be that you somehow disturbed the neutral wire when you were doing the hose.
