Had a shout from the wife this morning that there was a bad smell from the utility room.

Checked over found the washing machine was the culprit. Looks like the heater rod has burnt. The machine is about 2-3 years old (time flies) so wonder if the machine is a stiffy?

I can get parts etc but is it worth it??

Suggestions most welcome

Okay thanks for that.

Looking at the exploded diag it appears that it comes out the front and is retained with the 8mm nut?

If so I guess it's an easy fix for 50 quids worth of bits?

cant speak for yours but a hp m/c yes, you undo the heater nut and pull*, but on a hp it has a "plate" on the other end of the heater, if yous does take it from old element and put on new one.

also replace any burnt cables, connections must be crimped

* some times we used to bash the bolt in after undoing /removing the nut, it made it easier to pull out
