Cant get wall thermostat to switch heating on Potterton Sys

Hi I cannot get my wall thermostat to work, it has never worked since I moved in and I thought I would try and fix it. The main cotrol unit is a Potterton ep2001, the wall thermostat is Potterton prt2. The light on the prt2 never swith on.

Does anybody have any ideas?

also does anybody have an electronic copy of the manual for this system that they could send me.
