I work part time for the cops in leicester police control room.

tonight we had ambulance ring and tells us they attended an address where the family felt unwell. the symptoms where put down to poss carbon monoxide poisoning.

It turns out the house is privately owened so i guess its their own doing and no-one to blame (prosecute, police wise)

if it turned out to be rented which route is best ... corgi, hse ? and who tells them (inspector was on about corporate manslughter)

any ideas/ comments

How come you made this post tomorrow?

EDIT
NO worries I guess I got the time zone wrong in the profile

 :?:

dunno what you mean...i cant see, on my post, what you have "quoted"

dunno...never used one if we have (i say "we"...i'm now a full time plumber)

if req hse...ie a work related death at work, then we ring them and they turn up and over to them.

I sorted time zone thing out now.

To answer the question any such incident would become reportable to the HSE under RIDDOR regs

someone further up the chain will have to register a RIDDOR with HSE, all poison events are reportable, if the family were admitted via A&E it has probaly already been done, now wether anything is done, that is another thing.

even if the house is privately owned.

do they investigate to see if someone at fault ?...could well be lack of service by the owner

It does seem to be a very industry related quango but I am sure if you call them and they can't help then they would soon point you in the right direction

thx guys...just wanted info/thoughts
not for me to do anything. when i left work tonight at 2245 the job was already closed

they did go to a&e via cas so maybe hospital will notify ?

Seems a bit hit and miss from where i'm looking though (hospital could be thinking we are dealing etc )

Anyway, not my issue...cfb turned their gas off and gave them advice

If you take the initiative and at least inform the HSE then you can say that you acted with the best interests in case a court ever decided that you or any of your co workers either corporately or individually had a duty of care.

from the sound of things the hse are going to get plenty of Rids filed, they'll bundle them up and decide on next step. jobs done
