Is it advisable to remove the existing vinyl tiles before laying ceramic tiles? The floor is concrete under the vinyl. If so do i need to prepare the concrete before laying the ceramic tiles i.e. sealing?
If the vinyl tiles are of the 'marley' type ie about a foot square, thin , and well stuck down, there is little point pulling them up, as there will be a horrible black bitumin texture underneath. Simply ensure they are sound, clean & then PVA the whole surface. Then use a one part flexible adhesive to lay the tiles. If the vinyl is loose or one of those soft luxury style stuff, then i recommend pulling it up (unless you use the very expensive extra flexible adhesive solutions provided by Bal or Granfix)
If pulling up, Brush concrete with PVA & use Standard Fast set adhesive
